so this is kind of a songfic! for Lindsay Buckingham's Trouble. I don't usually do these because they generally look really good in my head but just don't translate. But I have decided to try this one - it's really short and I do hope you'll enjoy it. Set early on in the series.
all the usual disclaimers about SG-1 and the song Trouble.

Jack moved to the stereo as Sam waved goodbye to Daniel and Teal'c as they reversed out of her driveway. He picked up the cover of the cd that was currently playing and smiled as he scanned the song list on the back. He really loved one particular song, and without thinking too much about it he pressed the skip button a few times until it started. He looked up just as Sam looked back into the lounge after closing the front door.
His heart skipped at the look on her face when the lyrics started. And then he realised...ah crap!
'I should be saying goodnight now
I really shouldn't stay anymore.
Been so long since I held ya.
Forgotten what love is for.
I should run on the double
I think I'm in trouble.'
"You can say that again," Jack murmured as they continued to stare at each other.
Suddenly Sam broke the trance and moved to take the empty plates from the coffee table to the kitchen hoping to put some distance between them. She closed her eyes and gripped the edge of the sink as she heard him enter the kitchen behind her. God! Isn't this already hard enough!?
Jack screwed up his face trying to decide what to do here. I really should just listen to the damn song and leave right now! But against all reason he found himself unable to.
"Carter..." He breathed.
Sam opened her eyes at his whispered plea. Nervously drawing her bottom lip between her teeth she turned to face him.
'Come to me darlin' and hold me
Come and keep your daddy warm
Been so long since I held ya
Forgotten what love is for.'
Wisely or not Jack let every word show on his face, and before long Sam was moving slowly towards him not taking her eyes from his. As she placed a hand on the back of his neck to pull him towards her the song continued, only barely making it through the fog that was descending over him.
'I should run on the double
I think I'm in trouble...'
Jack agreed wholeheartedly with the words, knew there was nothing surer. Still he moved his head to close the final inches between them and as his lips closed on hers he simply couldn't bring himself to care.
