This is the first fanfiction I've ever written, so please be nice. I thought of this idea when I was watching the cutscene where Riku gets his body back. I'm sure everyone has wondered why Riku's hair is so emo.

Emo Hair
Sora crossed his arms behind his head as he left his house and started towards the beach. It was another perfect day in Destiny Islands. The sun was shining and the sky was a clear, cloudless blue. Relief swept through his heart as he savored the fact that he was home with his friends and family once more. He'd saved the worlds from the Heartless, and he and Kairi were complete people again.
The Keyblade hero breathed in the salty sea air, closing his eyes in contentment. It was so peaceful here…
"Sora!" he opened his eyes as he heard his name being called. Riku was sitting down in the sand with his feet in the water. One hand was up in the air, waving him over.
"Hey, Riku." He grinned and waved back, running over to the older boy. Riku's presence was another thing he was grateful for. He'd fought so many enemies to bring his friend back into his life. Now Riku was back in his circle of friends.
He flopped down in the sand next to Riku, an uncharacteristic frown on his face as he studied his friend. It was hard to see him with that curtain of silver hanging into his eyes all the time. Ever since Riku had regained his body in the World That Never Was, Sora had been wondering why his friend had such emo hair. He hadn't had the chance to ask though. After their reunion, he'd been too busy fighting off the Heartless, the Nobodies, and the remains of Organization XIII. After he'd defeated the final enemy, he'd been swept up with the joy of returning to Destiny Islands.
Now that he was here with Riku the question came back to him.
Riku's blue-green eyes blinked back at him. "Sora…?" he asked.
Sora realized he'd been caught staring and looked awkward. "Sorry. I was just wondering about your hair."
"My hair?" Riku asked, glancing at the silver strands.
Sora leaned over and brushed his friend's bangs out of his eyes. "Look! I can finally see your face. I've been wondering since the World That Never Was why you always have your hair in your eyes. Are you trying to be emo?"
Riku twitched a little. "No," he replied.
"But you look like an emo," Sora insisted.
"Maybe I just felt like growing my bangs out."
"But why the emo look? You could move them off to the side or something instead of letting them hang in your face all the time," Sora said, tilting his head and giving his friend a curious look.
Riku rolled his eyes. "Sora, I'm not being emo. I just like having my hair like this."
"But-"
"And don't ask me why," the other boy said crossly. "I just do." He swatted Sora's hand away so the hair fell back into his face. "Why are you so curious about my hair tonight? This is a conversation I thought I'd be more likely to have with Kairi, not you."
Sora laughed sheepishly. "Well, Kairi was complaining about how my bangs were getting too long and I said at least they aren't as long as yours."
"That's why the two of you should let me cut your hair," Kairi said, startling the boys. They turned and glanced at the redhead standing behind them, a pair of scissors in her hand.
Riku immediately drew back. "I don't want to cut my hair."
Kairi frowned. "But, Riku, having bangs as long as yours is really impractical. What if you run into something or someone because you can't see?"
"She's got a point," Sora admitted. "I'm not sure how you could see all the Nobodies we were fighting when you had your hair in your face all the time."
Riku rolled his eyes again and got up, brushing sand off his clothes. "I can see fine, and I'm keeping my bangs like this. You can cut Sora's if he wants to, Kairi, but my hair is staying attached to my head."
