Oh wow holy crap long time no see eh? I promise you all I'll get back to writing Almost Lover! Soon! Please be patient and excuse my lack of posting.. I'm sorry!
Anyway, I hope you like this (SUPER SHORT) fic. It just randomly popped out of my head while remembering Angels of Manhattan.
Obviously the usual disclaimers apply, please review as well!

He didn't know where to go. Being alone in the TARDIS made him feel so old, so lonely. He realized that he could always find another companion, but that would mean more pain. Starting the TARDIS, he plotted random co ordinates and traveled into what felt like an endless oblivion.

The TARDIS landed. Making sure everything was set, he strode toward the doors of the time machine and threw them open. A large jungle spread as far as his eyes could see. Gigantic trees sprouted every 30 feet, into a canopy he wasn't even sure ended. Filled with new found excitement, he bounced out of the TARDIS, yelling "Come along Ponds!"

He stopped for a moment before looking back and realizing that there were no Ponds to follow him. For the first time in ages, he was really and truly alone.

Supersuper short, I know. But heeey I wanted to write it..
Also my theory on why the Doctor kept coming back is that he never really left, just kept getting the timing wrong. He always left, yes, but I think he regretted it soon after and went back for them, only to realize he got the timing horribly wrong and ended up 6 months or whenever in the future.
Whatever! Just a thought! Anyway I hope you enjoyed this super short ficlet, I'll get to posting more for Almost Lover quite soon, I promise!
