Disclaimer: I own the poem and that's it. Anything else belongs to someone else.

Author's Note: Yeah, another poem. This time from Kurtis' side. It refers to his feelings for Lara. I'm amazed it took me this long to write something like this.

Never was it a challenge to say

He loved something before.

To his Chirugai, or motorcycle, a sunny day,

Things which he adored.

Now he was struggling to form

The words he knew he felt.

"I love you", for her, wasn't the norm,

It wasn't heard often with what they dealt

With. But it's what they shared.

He had to tell her though, then,

That he always had cared.

Who knew when they'd be separated again?

He recognized the glimmer

In her dark eyes as he stuttered.

I feel like the opposite of a winner!

He thought as his heart fluttered.

Just tell her what you feel!

Tell her to never leave.

Tell her that this… This is real,

What I'm about to say shouldn't cause her to grieve.

He tried- repeatedly- to just say

Something other than a garbled mass.

It wasn't a game he wanted to play,

But he doubted she knew that, alas.

All the books in the world, and

Coaching from his good friends,

Couldn't make his words grand

And his inability to speak end.

So she stared, with lost,

Brown eyes while he

Mentally declared: No matter the cost

I will forever love you. Be

Mine, Lara. I love you.

He couldn't do it though,

He could barely think it through.

How she was taking this, he didn't know.

To his surprise, Lara smiled when

He said nothing.

"You did it again;

I can read you like a book. Loving

You is something I will forever

Do. Can't you see

That? Or tell? Never

Will I say to you, "Away from me,

I don't love you, I

Don't love what we have."

This isn't something I would lie

About, Kurtis. With you, I'm glad.

I'll beat you to your words, dear.

I love you so much, my words won't

Explain what I feel. So, stay near,

My love, and please don't

Leave. I need you as much as you need me."

He stared, open-mouthed, for a moment or two.

He was amazed, and glad, and overwhelmed with glee.

Somehow, in his heart, he always knew.

He grinned, and simply stated to her, "Good,

Because I do too. I love you, forever.

Leave you? I never could.

Or stop loving you? Never."

Do you know how long that took me to write? Like, six months! I don't know why, but I got really stuck when he was having the freak-out about being unable to say, "I love you," and then I just gave up. Then I went through my stuff the other day and found it and finished it. In like a half-hour. So… Tada.

Flamers, leave a note with my secretary, the proto. I don't know where they are this time, or where my office is, so let me know if you see either of them. O.o
