Be gentle with me, kay? This is my first Nellis fic, and I'm honestly not the best author. I'm just out of practice though. I think.
Anyway, I wrote this for a secret santa on dA. It is almost painfully short - 400 words ._. And it contains guyxguy fluff. Or it's supposed to be fluff.
I'd love a little advice/constructive critisism~
"Hey kid," Nick teased, sauntering up behind Ellis, who currently stood just outside of the safe room's open door, "How long do you plan on staying out there like that - till we all turn into popsicles, or till a Hunter thinks you'd make a tasty sandwich?"
Ellis turned to face Nick, chuckling apologetically. Sure, Nick was complaining, but there was a twinkle in his eye, a teasing lilt in his tone.
"Naw, I was just waiting." Ellis muttered, watching Nick's expression change to a slightly incredulous one. "Hey, Neek," Ellis started, changing the subject, "Ya think it'll snow?"
Nick snorted.
"God, I hope not. I really don't want to add 'freezing my ass off' to the list of shit that happened to me during the zombie apocalypse. The con-man grumbled, shoving his hands into his trouser pockets. Ellis' face fell. "Ah've never seen snow before." He muttered, turning away slightly. Nick sighed, running one hand down his face, massaging his temples. "Listen, Overall, I'll make you a deal. If we make it out of this shit hole alive, I'll take you to see snow. Real snow, too, with mountains and ski lifts, none of that fake indoor shit." Ellis took a step towards Nick, eyes wide. "Really? Yew mean it?"
"Sure, why the hell not. Now get your ass inside before you catch hypothermia or some shit." Ellis nodded meekly, but as he moved to step inside, the hick noticed something, and froze. Nick paused, following Ellis' gaze upwards. "Ah know the tradition fer mistletoe, but, ah..." Ellis mumbled, pulling his hat off to fiddle with it, dropping his gaze to his toes. "...uh, ah mean, yew don't hafta, Neek... Yew could just walk off an pretend this nevar happened, and ah wouldn't hold it against yew, but ah..." Ellis trailed off, swallowing hastily as he wrung his hat in his hands.
"Uh, Neek, what're yew doin'?" Ellis tittered nervously as Nick reached out and placed his hands on Ellis' overall-clad hips. Ellis looked up nervously, only to see a rather lecherous smirk tug at the corners of Nick's lips.
"Following tradition."
Ellis barely had time to register Nick's words, before his lips were claimed in a warm, tender kiss.
"Now," Nick started, detaching their lips slowly, "let's get you in out of the cold, kid." Ellis nodded blankly, shuffling inside so Nick could shut and bolt the safe room door, running his fingers over his tingling lips.
Ellis chuckled, an idea gathering in the back of his mind. "Hey, Neek, yew wanted to know what ah was waiting fer?" Nick sighed, humoring the hick.
"What were you waiting for, Aylus." He teased.
A faint blush pinked at Ellis' cheeks.
"Yew."
Eh...
Review, I suppose...
Oh, and Merry Christmas, everyone.
