Ron had always hated the little buggers. They invaded the garden all the time. When you tried to get rid of them, they would bite you with their '&$ sharp' teeth. They were such a nuisance. And yet here he was fighting them out of the garden so that he could bring Hugo out to play. He didn't want them buggers to attack his son, and he didn't want his curious toddler trying to catch them either. They just always had to come into the garden at the most inopportune moments. He wanted to enjoy the day outside with Hugo, but Hermione didn't want there to be gnomes while they were in the garden. So he had taken up the task. These things just keep multiplying. There has to be an easier way. Ron thought as he wiped some sweat from his brow.
When he wasn't paying attention two sneaky gnomes tied his shoelaces together. He took one step and began to lose his balance. He was nearly stable but tripped over a ball and flew through the air yelling numerous obscenities. He was in for it now. He could hear Hermione coming. Stupid garden gnomes he thought.
Hermione had been inside reading while Hugo took his nap. She rarely got to read like she used to now that she had children and Ron in the house. She loved her husband very much but sometimes he was just too much. She heard him yelling and made out a few of the words. He is in Big Trouble. Hugo could hear him. Hermione stepped outside yelling "Ronald Bilius Weasley, I have told you too many…" she cut herself off when she found Ron sprawled out on the ground, shoes tied together, gnomes cackling over by a rose bush. "What happened?" she asked sounding very concerned.
"Those, those dam…darn little sons of b…buggers with their evil flesh loving teeth; that's what happened." He stated rudely while trying his best not to curse in front of Hermione. He was in enough trouble.
"Well you don't have to be such a git about it. I was just asking what was wrong. I was afraid you might be hurt. I'll never make that mistake again." She replied pitilessly. "To think I almost let you off the hook."
"I'm sorry Hermione. I didn't mean to be such a berk." Ron looked at her with a puppy look on his face.
"Don't you dare try that face with me Ronald Weasley! You are in trouble for that mouth of yours. To think I let you kiss me with that mouth." She reprimanded him as though he were a child. And truth be told on the inside he was very much a child. She sat down on the ground by him.
Ron looked up from unknotting his shoes. "I really am sorry. Just those gnomes tied my shoes together and I stepped and lost my balance and tripped over that ball and flew through the air and landed in a heap and I really am sorry for using those words." He took her hand in his. "No matter how true it is." He daftly added as an after thought.
"Well that's no excuse."
"I know." He leaned in and kissed her. She fell backwards onto the grass. "I love you, Hermione. And I really am truly sorry." He kissed her again even more sincerely.
When they stopped kissing Ron looked at Hermione. "Hey you get away from here." He said.
"Ron, what did I…"
"Not you those little prats." He said picking up a gnome and throwing away.
"Look their on you too." Hermione said giggling. "I think they luuurve you, Ron."
"I think they're just jealous they can't find their own woman." He replied. "Or maybe their parents never told about the facts of life, and now they want to get a front row view of the show." Ron said as he kissed her neck.
"Ron." Hermione giggled softly. "I think we should go inside."
Ron made a face that looked like he was in deep thought. "Nah, I rather like it right where I am." He wiggled his eyebrows at Hermione and bent down for another kiss.
I'll have to remember to thank these guys later Ron thought as he continued to kiss his wife in the soft grass of the garden.
