Review-After Beerus

Shade Critic: (Sitting at his desk with his back staright, shoulders square and in a generally happy mood) He-llo, fellow fanfic readers. My name is Shade Critic and I am here to show you the best and the worst of fanfiction. My first review showed us the ugly propaganda side of our wonderful little sight so I've decided to review about a short, warm and heartfelt read. Namely, After Beerus.

First, a short rundown of the fanfic. After Beerus is written by Petros24 and takes place after the battle with the famous God of Destruction himself. We are treated to a moment with Chi-Chi and Videl, one with the mama and her son Goten and finally, the good stuff with Goku and Chi-Chi. Here, Goku recounts the final moments in the battle against Beerus. While doing this, Goku also tells us about how he was able to defend the earth by thinking of those he cares about, much like his battle against Freeza. Shockingly, he says that Chi-Chi was the deciding factor in this battle, for if she were not in his life, he would have failed. He also expresses fear in the fact that Beerus is completely out of his league and how afraid he is if the god should return. Chi-Chi calms these fears and they fall asleep with each other.

First, the grammar: Quite good, even for a short one-shot. I can think of only one thing I would correct in this story and that's more of a nitpick. Otherwise, this part was well/

Secondly, the characters: Agaun, though it is short, the author did a good job keeping them in character when they easily could have messed them up. Plus, we are shown a side of Goku and Chi-Chi's relationship never expressed in the anime or manga: how they affect each other. Chi-Chi, no matter how angry Goku makes her, will always love him and care for him, causing her to be more gentle and caring towards him. Likewise, Goku is driven to protect Chi-Chi and she acts as the rock in the whirling sea of life.

Third: The callback to the anime where Goku fights Freeza. As he is drowning, Goku's mind conjures up images of those he cares about. While it shows everyone, three are picked out as special: Krillin, Gohan and Chi-Chi. That is a heartwarming and brilliant moment.

Well, that's all I have to say really. It's short yes, but it gives you exactly what you bare looking for and also more. I does a lot with a little. The sign of a true writer, giving depth with just a handful of words.

Speaking of depth (Walks up his window, opening it to show a deep chasm below that stretches to the core of the earth and beyond, yearning to consume and crush anything good or hopeful) sigh I must descend down into the bowels of Fanfiction once more. (Goes to a closet and pulls out a rope with a grappling hook. He walks back over to the window and hooks it onto the ledge) If any of you have a fanfic you consider especially bad or good, then tell me. I could use the help. If not, just tell me how to improve my critiquing. For now, I say (jumps out the window and into the chasmn) Adios!
