Dancing Through Raindrops

Anzu couldn't remember when she had last seen Ryou. It was definitely after the ceremonial duel. She supposed it was their high school graduation. Yes, that had to be it because she really couldn't remember seeing him around after. She remembered asking Yugi if he knew his whereabouts and Yugi told her that Ryou had left to go see if he could track down his father and try to repair their relationship.

That was a few years ago already. Anzu looked out the window of the dance studio she was part of and watched the rain come down. It was a miserable day, it had started to rain late last night and hadn't let up. Anzu didn't want to leave to go get lunch, but she was starting to get hungry and she had rehearsal in a few hours. Getting up, Anzu donned her raincoat and got on her rainboots and headed out into the rain.

At least it wasn't a heavy rain, just steady. Anzu splashed in a puddle before stopping and looking around. She really didn't know where she wanted to eat. That was the great thing about New York. You could eat almost anything you wanted all in a few blocks of each other.

Suddenly the rain stopped hitting her. Looking up, Anzu blinked at seeing an umbrella over her head. Turning, Anzu squeaked in surprise and stumbled backwards at seeing who was behind her. "R-Ryou!"

"Hello Anzu, It's been a while," Ryou greeted with a smile. Besides growing a bit taller, Ryou hadn't changed. Anzu straightened and with a smile, hugged Ryou tightly.

"Oh my god…what are you doing here? How are you? What have you been up to?" she asked rapid fire. Ryou laughed and returned the hug, content to hold his friend close.

"To answer your questions in order…I came to see you, Yugi told me you were living in New York now, living your dream of being a dancer. I am well, I have been trying to find somewhere to settle. And, as Yugi told you, I went to see if I could find my father," Ryou replied, his face darkening. "I searched for a long time, but I could not locate him. It leads me to believe that he is either dead or he vanished. So I came back to Japan and tried to locate and catch up with everyone and that lead me to here."

Anzu smiled and linked her arm with Ryou. "Well, now that you're here, you can accompany me to lunch. I know of a neat little bakery that makes killer creampuffs." At Ryou's excited and gleeful smile, Anzu laughed and led Ryou to the bakery.

After lunch, Anzu took Ryou around the surrounding area, showing him around. As Anzu's rehearsal drew nearer, Ryou escorted her back to the studio. "How long are you staying in the city? I'd like to spend some more time with you," Anzu said.

Ryou thought a bit. "About a week, maybe we can go sightseeing soon," he suggested, pulling out a piece of paper. "This is my hotel and my cell number. Give me a call later, ok?" Leaning in, Ryou kissed Anzu's cheek chastely and walked off.

Anzu smiled softly and looked at the paper as she headed inside. He was staying not far from her apartment. She'd definitely be dropping by later.
