It had been a long day but Mimi still had a job interview. Mimi was never planning to be a stripper but she wanted to dance and she was trying to survive in the city that is told to be the hardest to survive in. The day had been full of rejection interviews and many weird looks. The day was drawing to a close but there was still work to be done.

Mimi walked into a room full of skinny big busted women, suddenly she became self-conscious of here body. The room didn't look clean not that she had expected it to be but it would have made her more comfortable. There was four men well over the age of forty sitting at a table and one man with a drum set in front off him he was young than the others he looked as if he was in a similar boat as Mimi.

One of the men sitting at the table stood up, only when he stood up you could see how short and fat he was. He introduced him self as the owner of the cat scratch club and described that the Angel the man on the drums was going to play a beat and the girls had no more than one minute to show him what they have got.

Mimi was nervous, she dried to get in the back and hopefully get some ideas from the girl's affront of her. The owner asked the first girl to come up to the front and use the poll in the middle of the room. As the girls in front of her danced she thought about how displeased the girl's parents must be but then it dawned on her that she was in the same boat.

Mimi's turn came before she could get any ideas from the other girls. Mimi's stomach seemed to do flip flops and she had no idea what to do. She looked at the drummer, Angel, and he gave her a faint smile and somehow the dirty walls didn't matter and so Angel started to play. Mimi danced as she felt, but she had no idea if it was good or not. Mimi moved to the back of the room and tried to stay hidden. She knew it was bad for an audition but it was a crowed room and she wasn't sure if anyone would notice.

The last of the dancers finished, the owner told them to come back in an hour. Mimi didn't want to go home but she could afford to go and get something to eat so she just decided to walk outside the door. The air was cold, to no surprise, she saw the drummer, Angel. She wanted to talk to him, she walked over to him and said hi.

"Don't you have to go judge the dancers?" Mimi asked as Angel began to laugh.

"No homey I know nothing about dancing. I am a drummer the owner Mr. Jefferson, hired me off the street. Those aren't even my drums."

"Oh, I am Mimi"

"Mimi" Angel said taking in the name "I'm Angel."

"I know. They introduced you remember"

"Yeah" Angel said with anxiety. "What is your situation?"

"I'm sorry what are you talking about"

"Honey maybe your not aware but most people don't want to be a striper."

"I guess I am just trying to survive in the city that never sleeps."

"Aren't we all?"

Before they knew it they had spent a hour had passed, Angel mentioned that they had to go back in. So they did, as Mimi walked in the door they said that they would announce who had got the job. They started off with the main dancers and they didn't call Mimi's name then for the back ground dancers. After about fifteen people they called Mimi's name. She was so relived to finally be working again she, ran to hug her new friend, Angel. And Angel seemed to feel obligated to do the same.
