"Oh, Saladin, what should I do?"

Grace Madeleine Cahill stroked her Egyptian Mau's fur, deep in thought. She felt weaker than ever, her cancer hasn't been getting better. In fact, it seemed to get worse as each day passed. That problem, and topped with a heavy weight on her shoulders, sometimes, ol' Saladin wasn't enough for comfort anymore.

"Leaving Amy and Dan this early is unthinkable," She continued, "I've tried my best to teach them all they must know without completely revealing it to them, but in the end, it's up to them."

"Murp."

Without Saladin, Grace probably would've passed away as soon as she could to escape the lulling pain. But she needed to do before she can say goodbye to this world. And speaking of world, her next actions could decide the fate of the world, either destroy it, or let it thrive for the many years to come. And her faithful cat was a reminder of that.

'So had Dan and Amy… and Hope, even my son-in-law, even if he was a-'

The speaker on the tabletop beside her bed buzzed, jolting her from her thoughts.

"Mrs. Cahill, your lawyer, Mr. McIntyre, is here."

William, William McIntyre. He finally got here.

"Alright," She said weakly, "Let him in."

William McIntyre was going to be here in a short period of time, knowing her loyal lawyer, and Grace expected that. So as soon as the speaker clicked off, she turned to Saladin.

"Saladin," Grace said her cat's name a couple of times before earning his attention. "All the branches have been keeping tabs on Amy and Dan. They have no idea yet about this, and soon they will. And when they do, my grandchildren will feel every Cahill breathing on their necks."

She paused, unsure of whether Saladin was listening or not. Grace just had to risk it.

"You know that I've told my trusted friends around world about them and what they can do to help. But, I'm not entirely sure if they will actually cooperate with me, they might want to hurt Amy and Dan. You're their last resort, you have to protect them. You hear me?" Grace said in a low, serious tone, "You have to protect them."

"Murp."

Anyone would've called her crazy, but the moment Grace finished speaking, Saladin displayed a look of determination and strength, even in his round cat eyes, as if they were back in the old days, when they were an invincible pair.

"Murp?"

She sighed and allowed nostalgic memories to take her away. The only time she opened her eyes again was when she heard a faint 'click' and the door creaking open.

A man in a suit stood at the doorway, "Madam? You wanted to see me?"

"Yes."

And the rest… you know.
