Oak Tree

Dean sat in silence under an oak tree. This was no ordinary oak tree. This was the tree where he met his soul mate. (As corny as it sounds) It was a beautiful evening. Not a cloud in sight. The brown and gold leaves danced across the damp grass with the slight breeze. The bright baby blues fading to oranges and soft pinks. He heard leaves crunch slowly behind him. Looking down he saw black converse and the hem of blue jeans along with the scent of sweet apple pie. Cas. His soul mate. His love.

"Hi Cas," Dean said moving his gaze to the former angel.

"Did I bother you?" Cas asked.

"No," Dean said with a smile "Do you remember this spot?"

Cas smiled. His bright white smile gleaming in the sunset light. Dean loved that smile. He always would. It made him feel warm and safe. Reassured that he would ALWAYS be his and only his.

"Yes," Castiel answered "I love you."

"I love you too," Dean said with a small leaf in his hand "more than the Impala."

Cas giggled "Really?"

"Of course!" Dean said with enthusiasm.

Dean captured Castiel's bright cerulean eyes like a young child catching a butterfly. Dean closed his eyes embracing this serene moment. Castiel watched in awe. Dean being calm wasn't normal. Especially since the war and his brother soulless. Dean's breath slowed just a tiny bit. He was nervous. The elder Winchester finally noticed that the leaf was still in his callus encrusted hand. He reached for his loves much smaller hand and held it tight giving him the heart shaped leaf. Dean never thought he could love anyone more than Castiel. The sun had almost vanished under the horizon. Dean was second guessing himself. Should I do it he thought.

"Cas?" Dean whispered into the other man's ear.

"Yes Dean," Castiel gave him a show-stopping smile. Dean was ready to ask the former angel the most important question he could ever ask. Dean stood up pulling his angel with him.

"I love you Cas…with all my heart. I've never loved anyone more than you…well in a romantic way," Dean stuttered. He got down on one knee and pulled out a small black box.

Flipping the small lid open Dean said slowly," Castiel Novak, will you marry me?"

Castiel smiled with awe. He stared at the silver band with a engraving saying "My Angel".

"Yes!" Castiel screamed eyes filling with tears of joy. Dean hugged him squeezing the breath away from Castiel's lungs.

"I love you Cas. I swear I will never hurt you,"

"I love you too, Dean."

Dean slipped the ring onto Castiel's bony finger. Both couldn't be any happier than they were right at this moment. Dean leaned in for a passionate kiss. They loved each other forever more.
