The moon was bright tonight. The light caused great shadows in the grand room. The only thing that stirred was the Magical King as he tossed and turned in his large bed.
Anxiously Munto turned onto his left side only to turn back to his right only a few seconds later. He couldn't fall asleep no matter how hard he tried. It had been like this for the last couple weeks. He would toss and turn all night long and during the only times he fell asleep he was plagued by terrible dreams of losing the war and his people.
Lately his nightmares had taken a new turn. He stilled dreamed of losing the war and his people, but now he also, worried about the young girl who was sleeping in the next room. The girl who gave his country a second chance. He owed her much more then he could ever repay. The only thing he had done for her was put her in danger.
With a bitter smile he turned onto his back and stared at the ceiling. Looking for the answers to all his problems. They never came.
With a sigh he rolled out of bed and grabbed his red coat from the floor where he had thrown it earlier. Planning to take a walk in the gardens he opened his door and stepped quietly out into the hallway closing it behind him.
Looking to his left he saw Yumemi's door. He knew that behind that door Yumemi would be sound asleep in her large bed that made her look tiny in comparison and he was suddenly struck with a powerful need to go see her. Creeping silently so as not to wake her, he quietly opened her door and walked to her bed. Standing over her he was overcome with protective feelings that only she could bring out in him.
He wanted to protect his nation and he wanted to protect his people, but his feelings towards her were different. He wanted to hold her tightly to him and not let anything unpleasant or upsetting touch her.
The bed almost seemed to swallow her small frame. He reached down and tenderly brushed a strand of hair away from her face. She suddenly smiled and whispered "Munto…"
He was so shocked that he froze with his hand above her face. When she sighed and turned onto her side he realized that she was still asleep and quickly moved his hand away.
She was dreaming of me? He did not know why, but this made him so happy he felt like he was floating. He stood there for a little while longer with, what he was sure, was a stupid grin on his face. His first smile in days and it was all because she had said his name. This was definitely not like his usual self, but he did not care.
He may not have known it then, but this was only the first of many nights standing by her bed, looking at her beautiful face, as she dreamed.
This is the first story that I put on here I hope that you like it. PLease review it so I can get better!
