Mean thoughts and cheap theory's

'I don't know why I keep on doing this to myself' Kyle thought to himself as he walked down the damp street, his orange hair hanging in limp strands around his face as he scuffed his shoes across the cracked pavement of the night time South Park roads.
'I always have to fix things between them, no matter how much it hurts me I have to make sure they're happy, it never matters about me, it's always about him, about Stan.'

Kyle's thoughts turned towards his best friend, the boy he had grown up with, the boy who was like his older brother, and the boy he was completely and utterly in love with. Unfortunately, Stan was in love with one of Kyle's other friends, Wendy.

They had a violent, if not loving relationship, consisting with them always breaking up, and Kyle always putting them back together, because it didn't matter about him, it mattered about Stan. She remembered the latest fight they had, it had been about something stupid if he could recall, it might have actually been about who had agreed to pick up the Chinese take out on their way back from work. He didn't know, and quite frankly, he was getting sick and tired of putting people's happiness in front of his. But he knew, in the end he would always continue to do it.

He paused at the edge of the road, clicking the crosswalk button and looking at the ground, digging his toe into the unforgiving pavement.

All of the sudden he heard a women's terrified scream of "Tommy no!"

He looked over and saw the horror-struck face of the mother as her baby boy who couldn't be any older than three years ran into the street after a shiny nickel.

Kyle looked around and with drawing horror watched as a semi truck barreled towards the young boy standing in the middle of the road, oblivious to the danger around him.

Without thinking he ran onto the street, his shoes making squeaky sounds on the wet pavement, his heart pumping heart fast with the feeling of adrenaline.
He reached the little boy and grabbed him into his arms.
He didn't have time to think, tossing the boy towards the sidewalk, and his mother, the boys safe haven from everything bad in this world.

In the last few moments, he found herself pondering as to why he didn't jump onto the sidewalk as well.
Maybe he didn't have enough time, maybe not enough energy.
But in the end, the thought crossed his mind that maybe, just maybe I didn't want to jump.

He didn't think as he felt it, the slam into his body, his mind turned blank and eventually, there was no more need to think.

"Is she going to make it?" The horrified mother asked, cradling her confused baby boy to her chest.
"I'm sorry ma'am," the paramedic replied, looking up from kneeling on the ground next to the seemingly dead body, " It's too soon to tell."
