It has been five years since the war had ended. It has been five years since I have seen the Avatar. After he defeated Ozai using energybending we met up with him at the new Fire Lord's palace. He asked if we could talk.
"Katara, now that the war is over…" he paused finding the right words. "What I'm trying to say is are you still confused?"
This is the moment I regret most in my life. He stared at me for a minute or two, when I didn't speak he lowered his head. "I understand Katara." That was the last day I saw him. Aang has been around the world many times visiting villages in need of help. He has only come to the South Pole once after the war. When he came he made sure I wasn't around. I haven't seen him until tonight.
Later that Evening"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't see you there." She said as she turned to face the man she had just ran into.
"It's quite alright, I should have been looking." He replied. Katara stared at him for minutes, she, at first thought she was crazy. It wasn't until he spoke again that she realized it was him. "Are you alright, is there something on my face." He said with a laugh.
"Aang?"
"Do I know you?" he asked.
"Oh my, it is you!"
"I know who I am but who are you?"
"I can't believe you don't remember me. I just wasted half my childhood following you around the Earth Kingdom." She said with a fake laugh.
There was an odd silence between the two. Aang knew who it was. He tired to for get about her but he just couldn't do it. "You know you left before I could say anything." She said.
"Katara I gave you all the time and space you needed…"
Aang stood about 6'3 almost ahead taller than me. He had lost his boyish face, being replaced by a thinner handsome one. His eyes still sparkled and displayed his entire life. He wasn't the little boy she had left he was strong and built where is tiny arms once hung were large biceps. Katara was having a hard time focusing on what he was saying.
"Are you even listing to what I'm saying?" Aang yelled.
" No" she said in a small voice. "I don't have to…"
"What?"
"Aang, I know you're mad, but you didn't give me a chance to say what I wanted." He waited for her to continue. "I know, it was a lot to take in Aang and if you had waited I would have told you that I love you and that I wanted to come with you!" Aang stood in shock his heart was overjoyed but his mind told him to wait.
"I don't Katara…I can't trust you with my heart. I'm afraid to get hurt."
"Aang, I won't hurt you again. I promise." Aang could see it in her eyes that she meant every word she said. With that he leaned in a kissed her gently on the lips. Something that was long over due.
