"Everyone loves a wedding," General O'Neill greeted with raised glass as he approached his favorite second in command.

Lt. Colonel Sam Carter lifted her glass in acknowledgment. "It does seem to be a universal constant," she answered before taking a sip.

The General set his glass down on the table behind Sam and offered her his hand. "Shall we?" he said by way of invitation with merrily twinkling eyes.

"Sure," she answered gamely.

Teal'c the disc jockey had certainly chosen an eclectic mix for the reception O'Neill had let himself be cajoled into allowing along with the ceremony in the Gate room, but at least the current selection had a beat you could move gracefully to, something less than strictly ballroom, but certainly more formal than the average night club scene. The officers walked out over to the crowded make-shift dance floor on the raked ramp, where they quickly discovered that dancing at such an angle required a little more coordination between the partners than even ground. As they moved in slow ellipses around the dance floor, they found themselves alternately supporting each other's weight in an endless balancing act.

"They're lucky," Sam mused after settling into the rhythmic motions of this altered dance. "To be so young and so sure they've found what they're looking for. I'm definitely not that young anymore…"

"Well, you still make the ol' dress blues look good," General O'Neill told her with an utterly rakish wink.

Sam chuckled. "Thanks." She stared again at the happy couple for a moment. "I'm still not sure I've found what it is I've been searching for."

He caught and held her eye for a few pensive beats. "Some people go their whole lives without ever being sure they've found what they're looking for."

"Have you?" Her question reflected simple but genuine curiosity. "Ever been sure?"

"I thought I had once," Jack answered with brutal honesty. "But I lost it. Now… still looking."

"Yeah," Sam agreed quietly. The newlyweds caught her eye again. "Still looking."
