A Well Deserved Reward
Regulus sprawled on the rug in front of the fire, enjoying the heat. He'd been out in the blustery winter weather all day, Christmas shopping for his boyfriend of all things, and he was fairly certain that the cold had seeped straight through his skin into his bones. He was only just thawing out. Still, he supposed it was mostly his own fault, having left the shopping so late.
Rabastan had been finished over a month ago; and had been ridiculously smug about that fact ever since.
"You look comfortable."
Twisting his neck awkwardly to look at the man joining him, Regulus smiled.
"I am."
"Busy day?"
Shrugging, Regulus lifted his legs to drape them over his boyfriend as soon as the man sat down beside him.
"I was shopping for your Christmas presents. I'm confident that means I deserve a reward."
Rabastan raised his eyebrow at the younger man. "You know I've already bought your Christmas present, right? Surely that's as much a reward as you need?"
Regulus pouted before crawling from his spot until he was sitting in Rabastan's lap. "But... It snowed. And rained. And hailed. And it was windy."
"You should have done it earlier, like I suggested."
"But..."
Rabastan silenced him with a well placed kiss. "Hush. Your 'reward' is in the kitchen."
Regulus was up and out of the room before the sentence was even fully spoken, and Rabastan chuckled despite himself. It was something he'd found out pretty early on in their relationship, the younger man's addiction.
As a proper Slytherin, he never missed an opportunity to exploit it.
Following Regulus into the kitchen, Rabastan stepped up behind him, wrapping his arms around the slender waist.
"Does that mean I get a reward, for remembering yours?"
Regulus nodded cheerfully, swallowing before he replied, "Anything you want. These are my favourites."
Rabastan grinned, pressing his lips to Reg's neck. "I know."
He turned Regulus around in his arms, blinking in surprise at the sight that met his eyes.
His gorgeous boyfriend, smiling widely, face covered in chocolate. Shaking his head, he kissed Reg's temple.
"Rain-check until you've had a shower, huh? I'll wait for you in front of the fire. Don't be long though, the heat might make a few of my clothes... fall off."
Two hours later, the two lay entwined together on the rug, clothes abandoned.
"You know, I think it's a bit unfair that you got twice the rewards," Rabastan murmured thoughtfully. "You enjoyed that as much as I did."
Regulus snorted. "Do I need to remind you of the snow? And the rain and the hail and the wind?"
"Need I remind you of the three presents I have for you, come Christmas morning?"
"Three?"
"Hmm," Rabastan replied smugly.
Regulus grinned, tilting himself up on one elbow. "I got you five, so I'd say, you still owe me."
With a smirk, Rabastan rolled them, so he lay above his younger love. "Then I'd best get on with it, hadn't I?"
