The White Queen smiled serenely as she pat the small, glass-like flowers into place. Tarrant sat nearby, a shock of color against the pale background. Mirana frowned, concerned for her friend. She knew something was wrong, and it wasn't just because he'd been staring at the same cup of tea for more than an hour. Ever since Alice had left, the Hatter had become a shell of what he once was. He no longer flew into rages (a plus in some Underlanders' eyes), he drank no tea, he danced no futterwacken, and he hadn't picked up a scrap of fabric. It was almost as if Tarrant had left along with Alice. The Queen sighed heavily and wiped her hands on a nearby rag. She knew what she had to do; she just wished that she didn't have to do it. Life does need some mystery, after all.
"Tarrant," There was no response, not even a blink.
After repeatedly calling him, Mirana finally shouted, "Hatter!"
He jumped violently, spilling his tea and mumbling a quiet, "I'm fine,"
"Would you please bring the oraculum to me, please?"
The Hatter left without answering her question, and the pale monarch took his seat at the tea table. No need for the rest of the tea to go to waste. After a few moments, Tarrant returned with the ancient and crumbling roll of paper. Mirana took the oraculum and opened it to the current day. She then opened it further, and smiled lightly.
"Thank you, Hatter, it is just as I thought," She left the opened oraculum on the table and left in the direction of the throne room. At the entrance to the garden, she chanced a quick look back, and smiled widely at the sight of Hatter leaning over the table and studying the illustrations before him. He was practically vibrating with happiness, and Mirana was pleased to note that he was back to his old self. Twirling away, she wondered if beginning wedding plans now would be too premature. After all, Alice hadn't liked being forced into actions the last time she was here, and she probably won't appreciate it the next time.
Wow, I'm out of practice with writing! I'm trying to get back into it, and obviously I need practice. This was actually something I wrote to a friend in about ten minutes. Little effort was put in to it.
This is my small celebration of the election, as this was the first year I could vote. Yay me. Anyway, I hope all my American friends with the ability to did vote this year, and I hope the right guy wins. By the right guy I mean the guy I voted for, because I cannot stand the other guy. Five points if you can guess who I voted for. I'm, lying there's no points.
