Brook stood with his back up against the wall, breathing out heavily; why? He had no lungs to breathe, yet air escaped his jaws. The sunlight poured in from the open door way, and was close to his feet. He could feel his heart beating or was that just a memory of the times he was in fear of something.
Empty sockets looked down at the light, lovely warm light. When was the last time he felt the sun? When was the last time he looked up at the day's sky?
He did not want to die or vanish, he was scared. However he could not go on living as he was now. This strange half life he was forced to live out.
For what reason was he reborn for? Or carried on living?
Brook wanted to sing to the bright heavens above, something he never even known he wanted or needed now.
Alone...nothing and nobody...this endless cycle of hiding from the sun's rays. And walking the cold foggy nights alone on his large ship.
Brook gazed down, the sun had gone down. He never even noticed. Had he fallen asleep? Or just lost within his own mind?
"Yohohohooo Yo ho ho..." Brook started to sing but stopped, he moved away from the wall and walked through the door to the deck, everything was in darkness. This did not bother him, he could see well enough without any aid of light.
He glanced over at the round table and saw his tea he prepared the night before. He slowly moved over to the table and reached out for teacup and began making his tea. This was the last one, he had used it wisely since the last time he managed to get on board a passing ship. They would scream at the sight of him and attack. Not wanting to do any harm he always left quickly.
It had been a long time since everything came his way.
He only sang now to listen to his own voice.
"Hmmm?" Brook hummed a little as he saw some light, "Oh...someone? Someone is coming."
He moved over to the port side singing all the way he leaned over and stared at the passing ship. He kept singing as the figurehead came into view, then it's deck and then the lower decks. The came singing as he heard the screams and shouts of the people below; he stared at them, pausing he slurped his tea... was that laugher? Some was screaming of joy and excitement; he remembered that sound but was it really there?
Brook watched the ship sail passed and was suddenly half their sails and began riding the currents along side his ship.
The laugher. That same laugher could be heard from where he was...
"Yoho... Yohohohohohohoho..." Brook laughed along with that distance laugher, he loved it.
Brook stood there in the darkness and suddenly lights from the other ship's Crow's Nest came on and lit up his dark deck. He waited, seeing what they was going to do next. Then Brook heard it again, that laugh! It came from below now, just was followed by a loud voice.
Three persons appeared. However Brook sight was set on the one who was happy to see him, the grinning young man walked towards him without fear in his eyes. That laugher spilled from the straw hat wearing man's lips, causing Brook to smile...as best a skeleton could.
"Shishishishishishi!" The young man who he already guessed was the captain laughed in excitement.
"Yohohohohohohoho!" Brook laughed along as he stepped forward and began to introduce himself. This happy captain was a ray of light to the old skeleton.
