Meeting Kate's Mom

Immediately after Kate says Yes at the swings, she gives Castle a hand up and says, "There is someplace we need to go. Someone I want you to meet. " Kate gives no clue as to where they going as she drives them to the cemetery. As they enter and take the path to Kate mom's grave, Castle became uncharacteristically silent. At the grave site Kate smiles and begins. "Mom, this is Richard Castle. You would like him. Sometimes he reminds me of Grandfather. He's handsome, smart, funny, and he brings me coffee. He never gave up on me. He forced me to climb out of my rabbit hole. I love him mom and I am going to marry him. We made it difficult for ourselves but that is behind us. We found each other, and we are not letting go", as she squeezes Rick's hand." He was with me when I killed the man who killed you. He was with me when we discovered that Senator Bracken ordered your death. He will be with me when we bring the Senator to justice. That was part of the problem mom. He was with me so much that I never really saw him. It took me standing on a live bomb for six hours with Castle by my side before I realized that I loved him. I was blind and thought I could never be happy. No more. No more. He's brought light to my life mom. Joy. He's made me realize that I am not alone anymore. Mom, he helped me find love again. I love him so.

I miss you mom. You know that when we marry you would be an instant grandmother, of sorts, Richard's daughter Alexis. You would like her too. We won't make Dad wait to long for grandchildren, I don't want to leave the field yet, but we won't make Dad wait too long." With a look at Castle Kate says, "With your blessing we will name our first daughter after you. Could you help me guide her as she is growing up? "With a nod and hug from Castle Kate continues, "Castle and I are going to make mistakes. Mom could you help us remember that we love each other before we go too far? I miss you….Castle?"

"Mom I..." Castles' husky voice tries to speak. A gentle finger touches his lips. Kate, face bright with joy, eyes brimming with tears says "Shush, we both heard." As the two retreats back to the car, arm around each other's waist, Castle leans in, brushes Kate's cheek with his lips, and whispers in her ear, "Thank you." In the distance a church bell peels.
