Super short, but I'm trying to get as much Joey&Lauren writing done as I can before tonight's episode :(
"You ready to congratulate us yet?" Her Dad's voice caught her attention and made her lift her head from the side of her boyfriend's neck where she'd been held in his embrace. She still felt like a total cow, having forgotten about his race but she'd make it up to him. Now he was less grumpy with her, she's sure he'd be able to think of something she could do for him.
"No" she mumbled into Joey, him chuckling in response. "Babe" she sighed. "Congratulations Uncle Max." He said, shaking hands with her Dad. Stepping away from him, but keeping one of his arms thrown around one of her shoulders, she spoke. "You told Abi though right?".
Her sister had been going on at her all weekend about making plans with him, just Max and the kids and Lauren had found it so difficult to keep her mouth shut. Her mum had warned her though, that it had to come from him, it would turn Abi's world upside down and make her realise that Max and Tanya were over. For good this time.
Her dad looked confused, but nodded. "Good."She was concerned how well Abi had seemed to take it. "Surprised you didn't" he said with a chuckle. "I'm used to keeping your secrets at this point." She downed what was left in her glass, before shrugging Joey off and walking out.
She barely got a few feet out of the Vic before Joey's hand reached out to tug her towards him. "Babe" he sighed. "You've got to stop running away from me" She groaned and shook her head. "It's not you" she waved her hands in the direction she'd come from. "It's just all of that."
The family drama weighing her down, she briefly hinted at how complicated and dramatic their family was to him in the past. She wasn't trying to shut him out, she just didn't know how to let him in, didn't even understand why he wanted to be there for the shit. She was so used to just dealing with it by herself. He pulled her back into his arms, her feeling comforted straight away. "I know. But you've got me now, and I ain't going anywhere."
