Denied Belief
At the abandoned factory site, Enma sat on a bench, patiently waiting for Tsuna's arrival, with the sun's rays pouring in from the botched roof.
For several hours he'd been sitting there, having some sort of trust in the young Vongola. But how could he? After all, the traitor's blood runs through his veins and that traitor caused his Famiglia great pains in the years past.
But … Tsuna's soft, round face with big, shining eyes could not possibly withhold Primo's blood, but he does.
Enma pulls out his cellular phone for the tenth time so far. It read 11:50. Ten minutes before allotted time for the two to meet. He slipped it back into his jacket phone; his legs started to shake, his hands clammy. What was he getting nervous for? Tsuna surely is going to arrive. Right?
Enma softly shook his eyes while his eyes were half-mast. He wanted Tsuna to be different from what his Famiglia believed him to be. He wanted to be friends with Tsuna and his companions. He wanted to be more than friends with the Vongola, but Adelheid … she's so adamant on Enma seeing the Vongola to be what he is: the descendant of the traitor who killed and banished the Shimon.
He bit his lower lip as he clasped his hands together. He dared not look at his phone again. He didn't want to find that he may be proven wrong.
What seemed to be an eternity passed, and Enma reluctantly decided to check the time. His heart sank to his stomach as it read 12:35. He never showed. He never will. Adelheid was right, all along.
How silly of him to ever believe that a Vongola, even Tsuna, could be different from their predecessors.
His shoulders slumped heavily and he dropped his head. His red hair shadowed over his eyes. He wanted to cry, he really did, but that would be out-of-character for him. All he could really feel was reality and disappointment in that reality.
He braced his perch, still desperately holding on to that fleeting hope. Until he heard heels clicking.
"He never came, did he?" she asked, even though she already knew the answer. "Sawada went to school this morning, just as always. He ignored the letter you wrote Enma."
No, you're wrong. There must be a reason why, Adelheid! He's different, I know it!
"These are Vongola's true colors. Wake up already Enma."
Wake up already and understand that you've been denied your belief, your trust, your … feelings for him.
