A/N: This is a ONE SHOT DRABBLE. References to episode 16: E'Malama and any other episode which Danny mentions Steve's aneurysm face. Reviews are welcome as is constructive criticism but any rude, nasty or vulgar comments will be removed.
This is set any time after E'Malama. This story is not beta'd. All mistakes are mine. I'm not sure if I like this. It turned out differently than I thought it would.
DISCLAIMER: I do not own Hawaii Five-0. It belongs to CBS.
Steve McGarrett hung up the phone and turned around to face his partner, Danny Williams.
"What's the matter with you now?" he asked. "You've got aneurysm face again."
"I do not have aneurysm face or any other kind of face." growled Steve.
"Please, you so have aneurysm face. Your eyebrows are nearly to your hairline and your mouth looks like you swallowed a bitter melon. So, what's up?"
Steve glared at his partner but he realised that in the few short months since Danny began working with him, he could pick up what was going on just by the look on Steve's face. But Steve could also pick up what was going on with Danny just by the tone of his voice. He could even pick up what Danny was feeling on the phone.
Sure, people would think that Danny showed all his emotions while he was 'talking with his hands' as some people put it. But early on in their partnership Steve realised that while Danny moved his hands a lot when he talked you could tell what he was really feeling by the tone of his voice.
Danny moving his hands while speaking was just his way of communicating what he was trying to say.
Steve realised that he had been lost in his thoughts and turned his face to answer his partner's question.
"Chin said that there was nothing at the house. No drugs, money, guns or explosives. I think we may be on the wrong track."
"Ah, so that explains the aneurysm face."
"I don't have aneurysm face." replied Steve but he knew he was lying, just the same way as when Danny says he doesn't have a tone.
They knew each other too well to believe what the other was saying. All they had to do was look at their partner's face or listen to their partner's tone of voice, and then it was easy to figure out what was going on.
