Special to Him

Branch looked at the collection of invitations he had received from Poppy over the years in his house that warm night with a silent smile across his face. Even though he wouldn't dare admit it out loud, he appreciated the hard work his Princess put into each and every one of the invitations she made for him. The little details in each of them made him wonder how long she worked on them before giving it to him.

"Was that giggly girl up all night making this one?" He chuckled as he flipped the latest invitation open to see the drawing she made of him and her together on a tree branch. Inviting him to a slumber party taking place that night above him.

He wondered what it would be like to be at one of her parties without any fear of being eaten by a Bergen. Would he be singing and dancing with her right now under the moonlight? Would he finally tell her his feelings for her that he's kept hidden all these years since he was little? The mere thought of holding her hand as he gathered up the courage to tell her his true feelings made him start to blush.

"That's enough of that! Who am I kidding? There's no way Poppy feels the same way about me with that hippy lover boy Creek trying to woo her. She probably thinks I hate her guts..." Stated the frustrated Troll. He closed the invitation on the table slowly.

He didn't know exactly why he was trying to distance himself from Poppy when his heart keeps yelling at him to make a move already. Maybe it was because he was afraid of rejection or being publicly humiliated if she turned him down where everyone was watching. He couldn't handle another heart break after what he already went through.

"Someday I'll finally confess. But until that day, I don't think I'm making any moves with her eyes focused on the Troll of her dreams..." He sighed as he took out a secret photo he had of her smiling. Softly touching the frame with longing.

Someday he would tell her. Someday he would tell her how special she is to him.
