Just This Moment
by Shuichi Uesugi

The wind whispers softly by, caressing my skin like tiny fingers, massaging my cares away.
The stars shine brightly in the sky, like millions of fireflies against a blanket of black velvet.
The soft sound of waves crashing against the shore reaches my ears, calming me further.
All seems right with the world, sitting here on the roof.
Everything is peaceful and all my problems seem to have faded away.

Suddenly, two strong arms encircle my waist; a head rests softly upon my shoulder
I smile softly and lean into my lover's embrace.
"It's really beautiful out tonight, isn't it?"
He says nothing, but pulls me closer, kissing my neck softly, caressing my skin with his lips as if saying, "Yes, but not quite as beautiful as you."
My smile grows at his silent response to my question.

Yes, everything is right with the world, sitting here on the roof, my lover holding me tightly.
All is right, if only for this moment.
