Naruto jumped off a tree branch, ahead of Kakashi and Sakura. "Wait a minute, Naruto!," Sakura shouted, "Huh?," Naruto said, confused. "You're going so fast, don't you ever slow down?," Sakura retorted. "Sorry Sakura-Chan, I'll slow down a bit," said Naruto, embarresed. "Yeah, that would be good", Kakashi said sarcastically. "Remember, we're on a reconnaissance mission to find out the activites of the remaining Akatsuki," said Kakashi. "And... Sasuke should be their too," Kakashi said relucatantly. Sasuke Naruto thought. "Yeah," Sakura said nervously, thinking about the last two times they encountered Sasuke. "Don't worry, this time we'll definitely get him back!," said Naruto trying to sound like his usual confident self. Naruto started going faster and deeper into the woods. "Wait, Naruto!," Sakura said, worriedly. "Just let him be alone for a while, Sakura," Kakashi said. "We'll catch up to him later".
It was nighttime now, and camp was set up in the middle of the woods. Kakashi was out on patrol, so Naruto and Sakura could sleep until it was their shift. Naruto couldn't sleep though, he was still thinking about Sasuke. I made a promise to Sakura, Naruto thought. I have the feeling this is going to be the last chance I get to try and bring Sasuke back.
Sakura couldn't really sleep. She'd gotten a few hours of sleep at the most. She saw that Naruto wasn't asleep either, otherwise he would be tossing and turning in his sleeping bag. I wonder if he's still thinking about Sasuke..., Sakura thought. She got out of her sleeping bag and sat by Naruto's sleeping bag.
"Sakura-Chan?," Naruto said, wondering why Sakura was up when it wasn't their time to do a patrol around the woods. "Hey... Naruto," Sakura said. Naruto got up and said, "Yeah?". "Some people..." her voice trailing off. "Don't want to come home... no matter how hard you try," Sakura said, feeling sort of depressed.
What's Sakura-Chan trying to get to?, Naruto thought. "What I'm trying to say..." Sakura said, almost reading Naruto's mind. "Is that we might not get Sasuke back..." Said Sakura, trying to fight off tears.
"Don't worry, Sakura-Chan, one more chance is all I need. To talk to Sasuke one more time..."
Sakura smiled slightly, Naruto usually cheered her up when she needed it.
Kakashi came to the campsite and said, "Oh, you two are already up! Well, now we switch shifts."
"Right!", Sakura said. "Come on, Naruto, lets go."
"Got it!" Naruto said, as they leaped into the woods to make sure there was no one in the area.
But can I really keep that promise...? Naruto thought, still wondering.
