Open the door ~

"I'm scared."
She was lying on his chest, focused on the missing heartbeat of the white-haired boy. Jack held her close, his breath shallow and unsure. He softly kissed the top of her head, the red hairs tickling his nose. They had had this conversation a hundred times.
"I know, but you have to do it."
He was right and she hated it. In some ways, she loved this situation as long as they kept the questions away. But in others, she knew they couldn't move on until he knew. Elnöra would have given anything to turn back time. She was still wishing for another chance, another reality with him. She was such a coward. She would have been nothing without him. Without them.
"El'.
- Yeah, yeah, I know."
The Guardian could have used the promise they had made, yet he felt it wouldn't help much. His companion had made her decision a long time ago ; only was she not ready for it and for the pain which might ensue. All this was so frightening. No one could predict what would happen.
"You can't always keep him away.
- I don't want to.
- But ?"
She sat down, staring blankly at one of the room's windows. The night was dark and silent.
"But I'm scared you all will eventually hate me."
Smiling, he placed his chin on her shoulder, cold running on her freckled skin.
"You know this won't happen.
- No, I don't.
- Well, I'm telling ya."
Thoughtful, she pinched his nose before taking one of his hands.
"I'm not even sure he will come.
- You can't know if you don't try."
Her fingers were shaking between his. He turned her face so their eyes could meet.
"Everything is gonna be alright."
She looked away, her heart aching. His bent finger under her chin brought their eye contact back.
"I have you, you have me, remember ?"
Tears were piling in again. She pushed him softly, rubbing her eyes.
"Don't make me cry ! You idiot.
- You've always been so sensitive.
- Oh, look who's talking."
They chuckled as a snowflake landed on the tip of her nose. For a second, she was blinded with blue magic. Jack made her rest against his shoulder and her eyes were dry as she finally calmed down.
"Everything is gonna be alright."
Elnöra fell asleep, his cold breath brushing her forehead.
Somewhere, for the first time in almost six months, a door opened.
17/06/13.
