She buried her face in his chest, not wanting him to see her cry. She almost felt reassured when she felt him wrap his arms around her small frame, but then she remembered that this could be the last time, they would ever hug. It could be that the last time they ever talked to eachother, hell it was possible that she would never see him again. She let out a choked sob at this thought and his arms tightened around her.
"What the hell are you crying for?" he asked, chuckling slightly. She pulled back a bit to look up at him, shock clear on her face. "Are you honestly asking me that, Cato?" she replied in disbelief. He nodded, "Um, yeah. Seriously, though, why are you crying?" Cato looked down at the small brown haired girl in his arms, waiting for her anwser. Instead of replying, she simply pulled away from his embrace and went over to to sit on the couch., hiding her face in her hands.
"Fawn stop worrying. I'll be fine and you know it." he told her. Fawn could tell from the tone of his voice that he was getting angry. "No I don't." she admitted. That set Cato off. "Are you saying I can't win? That I'm not good enough?" he yelled. Fawn rolled her eyes, rather amused by Cato's anger. "I never said that, love." she told him, amusement clear in her voice, which, of course, made it worse. "You didn't have too! You don't think I can win" he shouted. Fawn stood up and faced Cato, crossing her arms over her chest. "You're right. I don't think you can win." Cato stared at her, shocked that she actually admitted it. With a sigh, Fawn sat back down, motioning for Cato to join her, which he did. She waited for him to respond, but when he didn't, she went ahead and continued.
"I don't doubt your abilities. If this was only based of what you could do, you would win hands down. It's your temper that has me worried. You get so angry so easily, and it clouds your judgement. That will be your greatest enemy in the arena. If by some miracle you learned to control your temper, I would have no reason to worry." As she explained, Cato's anger faded and his expression softened. "Your right, as usual. Sorry I yelled at you, hun" he apologized, giving his girlfriend a small smile. "Don't apolgize. I kinda asked for it." Fawn replied, returning his smile. Cato laughed, "Yeah you did."
The doors opened, then, and a peacekeeper walked in. "Time's up" he told them, before walking back out. Fawn sighed and stood, Cato doing the same.
"Be careful, and for the love of God, try to keep that temper in check." Fawn commanded. Caot mockingly saluted her. "Yes ma'am". "You're such a dork." she told Cato, rolling her eyes. Cato just smiled and gave her a short kiss. "Yeah, but you love it." he stated. "Whatever." Fawn said, turning and walking towards the door.
"See you in a few weeks, babe!" Cato called after her. Fawn walked from the room, turning back to face Cato.
"I hope so." she whispered before closing the door.
