A/N: A random quick one-shot, just because I am feeling incredibly happy tonight. It's a new world for me, guys. I'm free. 3 Love you, mean it. Cassie
Kate was more than happy. She was lying in bed, it was Saturday morning, and the sun was shining. Even better, she didn't have to work. All she had to do was cuddle up with her family and enjoy life. Nothing more than that was expected of her, and she was relishing it. She turned over in the warm sheets, curling into her husband, who wrapped an arm around her lazily, the heavy weight of his limbs more than welcome to her. She smiled as he nuzzled her hair, and couldn't help but want to stretch, taking in every second of this wonderful feeling.
"How long do you think it'll be until the baby's up?" Castle asked softly.
"Anytime now. But you know what?" Kate replied.
"What?" She looked up, her green eyes meeting his blue ones.
"I'm actually looking forward to it, because we can take our time with him this morning and not be stressed about it," she replied. He smiled at her, suddenly overwhelmed with thankfulness and love for the woman in his arms.
"I think Hunter and the two of us will appreciate that," he said. Kate laughed, a melodic and enchanting sound, just as Hunter started to cry. Instead of the customary groan, Kate just smiled and got up to go and get the baby. She returned a few minutes later with 15-month-old Hunter in her arms. The brown-haired, blue-eyed baby squealed and reached for Castle, all traces of his tears gone. Castle laughed and reached for him, and Kate set the baby down on the bed, where he could crawl over to Castle. Then she slipped back under the blankets, curling into the still-warm spot she'd left before, content to settle in and watch her husband and her little boy.
This was the life Katie Beckett had always dreamed of.
