TW: genetic experiments, mild violence
Years ago, there was a project that began to test the limits of genes and the power of simple changes in the genetic code that we call DNA. They tried to create a creature superior to anything that ever existed on earth. For what do humans strive for more than superiority? Despite the countless ways this project could have gone wrong, they pressed on anyways. Humans are foolish creatures, wreckless and selfish.
It was labeled project M1-7UN4, the subject was named Mituna. The face behind the project was unknown and the only name associated with anyone running this experiment was simply known as Scratch. Therefore, anyone associated with this was untracable in case anything went wrong.
It started with the research and planning, then moved on to finding the actual DNA to splice. That's where they got one of their associates in the medical practice field to steal a harmless sample from a hospital to work with. That was the least of their legal issues if they got caught at this point, though. The exact reason that everyone in this is anonymous. The next step was to actually splice the genes, then grow it from a single cell into a living creature.
Everything went smoothly with creating it, or so they thought. They watched it grow from a single cell into an embryo. So far, everything looked normal, vital signs were showing more activity than a normal human embryo. Then it grew into a small child and they moved it from embryotic fluid into a sort of suspended animation in a glass tube. The only thing that seemed out of the ordinary was the child's skin that was a darker, greyer shade of tan than any human they had ever seen, but more noticably was the creature's heterochromatic eyes and the two pairs of horns protruding from under the child's dark hair.
The scientists kept a close eye on the levels of electromagnetic energy and other numbers that were considered vital stats of this creature they called M1-7UN4. They seemed to grow stronger and stronger every day. Soon strange things started to happen in the underground lab. Power outages and surges, a strange visible blue and red sort of sparking around the equipment connected to M1-7UN4, along with strange strings of numbers and letters where viable data should be on the computers. The power outages and surges were directly connected to the vital stats of 7UN4, the outages causing his vitals to flatline as if he were dead and the surges causing just the opposite. They were concerned for the safety of themselves along with the safety of M1-7UN4, but soon things got out of hand and the project was abandoned altogether. The power to the entire underground lab was shut off for good, the only possible way to power the machines that once gave M1-7UN4 life was now a small generator. The only thing keeping him dormant, however, was the liquid he was suspended in. The small child was left to be frozen in liquid forever stuck at the age of 19, never having learned a single bit of the world outside his glass tank.
