A/N: Couldn't get this one out of my head since that amazing finale. Just a little snip bit. Hope you like it:)
She fit against his side seamlessly, her legs curled up softly around his hip, her head tucked into his shoulder, and one arm draped over his chest the other snuggled lightly between her face and the side of his rib cage. Her hair bunched around her features, dried in little sporadic knots he found himself gently trying to untangle as he quietly stroked her locks with his free hand. He watched every subtle shift in her features as she slept, each little curl upward of her lips as she dreamed, each little twitch of her fingers as her imagination reached for some unknown object. He revealed in each little puff of air, the feeling reminding him that it all was real, that it really had happened and that there was nowhere else he wanted to be then, right there beside her.
Castle listened to steady rhythm of rain outside the windows, their steady notes joined by brief flashes of light and a crescendo of thunder. He breathed in deep, hints of rain, earth, and cherries tickled his senses, scratching at the memories of just a small amount of moments before. He trailed his hand from her hair over her shoulder and down her arm, seeming to live off the very feel of the soft flesh. His hand dipped from the elbow onto the contour of her frame to delicately weave its way over her hip, his mind replaying the night in sensual detail; the feel of her body beneath him as they moved as one, the taste of her lips, the taste of her rain kissed skin, her soft sounds of pleasure and the desire in her voice as she spoke his name. He arrested his hand mid-way down her calf and leaned down feathering a kiss on her shoulder, wishing he could will away the angry bruises dotting her skin.
"Castle," Kate mumbled, her words slurred with sleep. He pulled back just as she turned her head to look up at him, her eyes half closed, ready to fall right back into slumber. "Are you watching me sleep," she asked, her voice hardly passed a hushed whisper.
"I didn't mean to wake you," he whispered back, pushing aside several strands of loose hair from her face before, gently kissing her temple. She smiled softly before rising up and shifting closer, her head resting against his neck, her legs curled into his lap. He reached for the distant covers and tugged them closer. He shifted slightly against the headboard and returned to watching the beautiful being in his arms, fighting against the weariness the warmth created.
"It's still a little creepy," she finished, a ghost of a smile brushing against his neck before he felt the final droop of eyelashes and the last snuggle closer as her body drifted back into the realm of dreams. A smile of his own crossed his lips at the distant memory. He placed one final kiss to the top of her head before, nestling his own into her hair and pulling her as close as possible, letting sleep take him as the last of the storm dissipated beyond the four walls.
