"Olivia, you know you'd be a major asset to this team. You're intelligent, you're athletic and you've been training for this since you were 10 years old!" My godfather, David Rossi, exclaimed over the phone. "Besides, you already know the team. Please give it some thought."
"I will, I just don't know about coming back to Virginia…" I trailed off, my voice quieting into a whisper.
"I know, it's a lot to consider, but I'd love to have you back here…so would your father." I could hear his voice waver on the last part, as if he wasn't sure if what he was saying was the truth.
"I'll think about it and I'll give you an answer by the end of the week. Be safe, I love you."
"Love you too Liv. I'll be waiting for your call."
Hanging up the phone, I sat staring at the wall for several minutes. Am I actually considering going back there? Maybe it'd be good for me, I hadn't seen Rossi in nearly 2 years.
Looking down at my phone, I read the text message again that I had yet to reply to.
"Please come back Liv, I'll help you through whatever it is that's holding you back. I can't live without you anymore. I need you, I love you so much."
Tossing my phone onto the couch, I let out a deep breath. I need to do it.
Glancing out of my great wall of windows, I catch a glimpse of the woman staring right back. A simple look at her, you see piercing green eyes and long, rich brown hair that flows over sun kissed skin. She's beautiful. Upon looking closer though, you see a faint scar running down the length of her cheek, another small one peeks out from her hairline. Her eyes are filled with pain; she's broken, and she'll do anything to protect herself from having to tell the truth; what has caused her all this pain.
Looking out at the beautiful Texas sunset, my decision had been made.
Walking in the gates of the grey concrete building, the tears threatened to spill.
"Miss. Adams, coming for your visit?" The guard asked with a polite smile.
"Not today…" I whispered looking down at the ground. "I can't stay here anymore, it's time for me to leave. I need you to make sure that you do everything you can to make sure he stays safe." I plead to the man that towered over me, his expression soft and understanding.
"I promise I'll do everything I can…but when…if…you come back…he's not going to be the same…"
"I know…but I need to do this…please tell him I said goodbye and I'll see him again…one day…" I turned out the door and without a glance behind me, went home to prepare to face my past.
