The next morning Kaidan was already awake and doing his morning stretches before hitting up the gym on the ship. Thanks to the amazing Elise and her tea making skills he finally got the sleep he needed. He didn't even bat an eyelid until this morning.

His thoughts turned to last night in regards to the cookies and both his and Elise promise as they both waited out the morning for James to find out about his beloved missing cookies and scream the whole place down. His lips curled into a smile as he walked out of the crew quarters and straight towards his locker, grabbing a towel and some energy bars for the occasional snack while shutting the door and making his way down towards the gym.

After three full hours of constant training he finally stopped to take a break as the sweat pored down his chest and stomach. Using his biotics he reached over for the bottle of water he brought along side the energy bars and took a long needed drink before taking a breather. His whole body ached and growled at him to stop but it wasn't a feeling that wasn't unusual to him.

Back when Kaidan was only a child, his parents began to see and realize the biotic potential their son had within him after some target practice with his father went horribly wrong. One of the officers who was on guard at the combat simulation complex fell asleep at the controls. Seconds after his whole body collapses to the ground but not before his arm managed to turn up the simulation difficulty to the highest level, leaving Kaidan petrified at what was to come as bullets flew past his head just inches away. Luckily for him his father saw his son and managed to enter the simulation with him and help cover him as he moved back down towards the exit. However, with the increase in difficulty came the increase in how real the bullets were.

As Kaidan's father began to make his way down after seeing his son race towards the emergency console, one of the bullets struck him in the side of the neck, causing him to fall directly to the ground. Kaidan screamed out to his father as one of the Alliance officials managed to stop the simulation as he saw the kid run towards his father. The nearby standby emergency crew rushed to the old man's side but he was already dead by the time they reached him.

Before he passed, Kaidan swore to him that he would train harder and storm anything in his way as he blamed himself for what happened and his father's death. With his father's last breath he whispered one last word.

"Proud..."

After that day forth and the experience of going through BAAT, he's always kept that very same promise he made and hears that one word his father spoke echo through his mind.

Taking one last breath Kaidan lifted himself back off the ground and got himself focused ready for another hour or so of training.

"I'll make you proud, dad. Even when i draw my last breath i will always make you proud."
