The thing every story should start with is how a certain event or situation became the central idea or the main idea that each story is based around, a life-changing-destiny-altering event. For Ryoma Echizen the whole life-changing-event-thing didn't apply to how he became attracted to Genichirou Sanada. To him, the feelings that had been burdening him on a daily basis were a culmination of many different events coming together to act as one singular entity. There was one small snag in this scenario for Echizen and that came in the form of Rikkaidai's Captain Seiichi Yukimura, now on a non-personal playing field he had no hard feelings for the man; however when it came to having his feelings bear any fruit, Seiichi Yukimura was the only thing standing in his way in his romantic endeavors. The reason that Seiichi Yukimura was an obstacle for Ryoma wasn't that he himself had feelings for Sanada; no it was because Sanada had strong feelings for his captain. In his eyes the only person he could see was Yukimura, Ryoma was merely a rival, an opponent Sanada strove to defeat in battle and nothing more. As he thought of this unchanging fact, Ryoma's chest tightened and squeezed and his heart ached because of the knowledge that the man he was desperately in love with would never love him back. And it was that knowledge and those kinds of thoughts that Ryoma fell asleep to. Tears streaming down his face and onto his pillow, his heart filled with regret and the anguish of a one-sided love.

Genichirou lay in bed dreaming of his hopeless love for his Captain, his mind swirling dizzying desired filled images of him and his out of reach love interest, then suddenly a new figure entered the dream. His golden brown eyes glowing with mischief, his skin the color of pure ivory, his hair black like a raven's wing and his petite body so full of strength and potential begging to be touched. His full mouth opens and all Genichirou can hear is the repetition of a familiar line, 'You've still got a ways to go…' "Agh," Genichirou cried shaking himself out his sleep induced stupor. He couldn't believe what he just saw, heard, or felt, the dream seemed so real and not only that, but he felt like his heart was going to burst from his chest. The figure that appeared in his dreams, the spectre now haunting his waking and sleeping hours seemed to no longer be his beloved Captain, but his long time rival the 'Prince of Tennis:" Ryoma Echizen.
