Disclaimer: Howl's Moving Castle doesn't belong to me. Its original version belongs to Diana Wynne Jones and the movie version belongs to Hayao Miyasaki. I had no part in it, thus not me. I do own the OC though. Go figure.
Selene Avani was woman of great distinction.
She was funny and charming. She was witty and insightful. She had knowledge beyond her years, and ideas light years ahead. But her mind, as brilliant as it was, was only equaled by her beauty
Selene had hair the color of aged gold and eyes of amethyst, that twinkled with magic and youth. She had skin of honey and the body of a goddess. If one did not know better they would say she were one. But, Selene Avani was no goddess. Selene Avani was a sorceress, and a powerful one at that.
Selene could make thing float, or levitate in thin air. She could make seeds grow or showers pour with just a wrinkle of her nose or the whisper of a word. She could see the future. She could see the past. She could turn coal into gold and make men drop into a proposing stance with just a merger smile. Selene Avani could have anything she wanted.
The sorceress heard the door open and close, and the sound of someone ascending the stairs. She didn't have to look to see who it was. "There you are," Howl always felt the need to make his presence know, even if there were only to people in the room. "I was hoping that we could have gone out with me this morning," The wizard threw off his cloak and gracefully to a seat next to the sorceress, "but you looked so peaceful sleeping I didn't have the heart to wake you." Howl purred, stroking Selene's soft cheek with the back of his hand.
Selene let out a muted sigh and let her eyes close, "Howl, I'm leaving." The wizard blinked a few times, then smiled warmly. "All right, then I'll go with you." Howl reached for his cloak, but Selene caught his hand. "No, Howl, you don't understand. I'm leaving……for good."
Howl gasped quietly, taken a back, as he realized what was happing. "No. Selene, no, you can't be serious."
"But I am." She said in a grave tone. "Selene, no, please. Stay, please stay with me." Howl said franticly, but Selene shook her head. "You were never here Howl. You were always somewhere else, no matter what the circumstances."
"Tell me what will make you stay! Tell me! I'll change, you know I can! Just tell me and I'll do it!" By now Howl had grabbed her shoulders and turned her to face him, trying to persuaded the sorceress to reconsider.
Desperate blue looking into forlorn indigo.
Selene looked down and gave a sad smile. "You can't Howl, and you know it. It's not the outside of you I'm concerned about." She said, and looked back at the wizard. She stretched out a hand and placed it to his chest where his heart should be. Howl flinched at the touch. "There's no place for me here. There's no place for us here." Her hand slowly moved up to cup the sided of the handsome wizards face, with a sad, yet warm smile on her face. Howl wouldn't look at her though.
"Someday, you will meet someone who can give you your heart back, Howl Jenkins. And they will have a place there. However, that person is not me." She said smoothly, and softly.
Selene leaned forward, and give Howl a peck on the cheek. He didn't flinch. He didn't move. He just sat there with a blank stare as all this was happening.
Selen sighed quietly again. She stood, letting Howl's hands fall away from her, and headed for the door. "Goodbye Howl," She said over her shoulder, at the top of the stairs, before leaving the enchanted house for the last time.
Selen Avani could have anything she wanted. Except for the heart of the man she loved.
So yeah…that's my take on what happened. Review please!
