Drabble. I love drabble because it's always short which makes the feelings right, for lack of better words.

Kagome sat on the edge of the well in her own time. Inuyasha said he would be there waiting for her at sundown.
She was about ten minutes early and was using the extra time to reflect on her day. Jeez. That test third period was hard. Was that cutie from my gym class looking at me during lunch. Do I have chemistry homework? Just your typical student's thoughts. Then she remembered that she forgot her history book. She was about to take a step when she heard a small chirp. She lifted up her foot to find a small baby bird laying on the ground.
It looked so helpless. She picked it up and spoke quietly. "There there don't cry. I know how scared you must feel. All alone in some dark unfamiliar place. With no one to comfort you. It's like how I used to feel in the feudal era. I was so scared and all of these demons were attacking me. I felt so lost. The little bird chirped in agreement. Kagome giggled. She was having a conversation with a bird. But one that understood. Inuyasha poked his out of the well and climbed out only to kind Kagome laughing. What's she so happy about? He thought. However, he decided to keep his presence hidden. At least, for a minute or two. Kagome continued talking to the bird. It seemed to calm it down. "Yeah I was so scared in the feudal era. But then I made friends like Miroku and Sango and Shippo and Kirara. And of course Inuyasha. Inuyasha smiled. "He's one of my best friends and I love him very much." Inuyasha was shocked. She had just confessed her love for him... to a bird! Kagome, still unaware of his presence, continued. "But he's broken my heart more than once. He always runs off to be with his ex-girlfriend Kikyou." Inuyasha couldn't defend himself. He looked away, feeling guilty. "But you know what," Inuyasha looked up. Kagome was staring right at him and said "I still love him with all of the little pieces he left me with." Kagome extended her hand to Inuyasha. He had a confused look on his face. Kagome grabbed his hand, still staring at him. His confused look turned into one of understanding. Kagome lead him down the well with a bag on her back, love in her heart, and the little bird in her hand.
