the blind are the first to fall

They say an evil is beginning to spread amongst the people.

It is the fanatics who speak. The savages who, in these times of peace, are forced idle. The soothsayers who have nothing interesting to tell. The warmongers who have no war to feed off.

The peace-lovers suppress those thoughts, those whispers. The world is fine. There is no evil on the horizon, about to swallow them. No darkness that's about to blot out the sun and their peace.

Those blind and deaf ones are the first who are washed away by the first wave.

Those who heed the warning are better prepared.

But no-one had realised just how powerful this evil would be.

And they worry that no amount of warning or preparation is going to save them. Or luck – that allows those who hadn't believed through the first wave. That opens their eyes and gives them their swords and shields and bows.

But then, one man has a dream and learns how to defeat this evil.
