"Hey Wise Girl!"
A mop of black hair and a pair of green eyes interrupted Annabeth's sparring session.
"What do you want Seaweed Brain?"
"Uh, Annabeth? The edge of your knife is a little too close to my throat."
"Good. That's what you get for sneaking up behind me when I'm sparring."
"You're not sparring, you're hacking down dummies."
"Your point?"
"Um, never mind."
"Thought so."
"So, uh, listen."
"What?"
"Um...so today's Friday."
"Yes...that's why you're here, isn't it? You're spending the weekend at Camp."
"Uh, yeah, yeah that's why. Um...it's also the 14th."
"I'm aware of the date Seaweed Brain."
"And it's February."
"Percy, are you just going to list pointless facts?"
"Uh. No, not exactly."
"Then what is it? Spit it out."
"Um, well. We've been dating for over a year..."
"Yes...?"
"So, um, and it's Valentine's Day."
"I know Percy."
"And, you know, demigods tend to die horrible painful deaths about 99% of the time so with demigods it's like, once you fall in love, it's kind of it."
"I don't really get how all of that is related, but okay...go on."
"And, um, we've survived a lot together...like Kronos and Gaea and Tartarus and stuff."
"Yes..."
"And, uh, I wouldn't have survived any of that without you."
"Uh huh..."
"And, um, I don't think I could survive regular life without you."
"..."
"So, um, here."
He held out his hand, and a silver ring glistened in his palm. It was thin, with white and teal stones. It was beautiful.
"Percy? What's this?"
"It's not an engagement ring! It's...it's a promise ring. Like, one day, eventually, um..."
"Eventually?"
"You know..."
"I know...?"
"Wise Girl, you are NOT making this easy."
"I thought you were used to that by now."
And with that, she slid the ring onto her finger, and sealed the promise with a kiss.
