A/N: Welp, here goes my first try at fanfic. Reviews appreciated (how do you even do this)

Obviously, I don't own The Doctor or River.

Finally she was back and as always ! was amazed at the sight of her and her ferocious hair, face lighting up as she told the tale of what she'd done on the moon. I was excited, to say the least, to see her and just spent some time studying her, watching her movements and reflecting on how even though she was different, the traces of Mels and Melody Pond were still evident in the girlish way she talked. Her vortex manipulator had enabled her to see the entire universe, zapping around between times and places in a way that couldn't possibly be healthy but I couldn't bear to stop her. Somehow, though we constantly moved at high speed, we managed to collide. She vividly described seeing the milky way from above and the beautiful way faraway stars could fade and briefly I wondered if on one of these adventures she'd fall for someone else, someone who didn't weigh her down with the scars and memories of a thousand years or maybe she'd grow tired of my antics and the insanity that came with constantly trying to save worlds and not knowing where the TARDIS would take me next. Then she'd look at me with that look that so few had given me before and I knew that there was no way that could happen. We'd stay up all night just talking, relaying memories of both our very alien and very human experiences, like the absolutely mad five hour phone conversations she'd had with Amy as Mels or the first time I'd fought the daleks and there was a strange beauty in just catching up, talking for hours on end as the TARDIS aimlessly floated through space. Every so often, she'd open the door and just gaze out, constantly amazed by the beauty of the universe where I could often only see the scars of my past. We'd travel together for a few days, allowing ourselves a zillionth honeymoon but soon reality would hit and we'd try to pretend neither of us had tears in our eyes as we parted.

So I just waited for the next time she came back into my atmosphere.
