Standing Here, Until You Make Me Move

Morag is in the library and Padma is not surprised. She is usually here herself and sometimes they share a table. What does surprise Padma though is that Terry is not here by Morag's side.

Padma would have expected him to be there.

Morag's hand is shaking and the quill's feathers shiver as she writes. Padma can't tell from where she's standing, but she thinks Morag might be crying. The other girl's head is bowed and she's not looking at the parchment in front of her. Padma doesn't know what to do.

Padma hovers behind the bookshelf, watching. Morag wipes at her eyes. Padma puts down the book in her hands determined to go to Morag.

Terry walks in through the main doors of the library, and Padma looks at him expectantly. He nods, silently acknowledging her. Padma stops. Morag doesn't need her now that Terry is here.

She steps back. Terry slides into the seat next to his girlfriend. Morag looks up. Her eyes are red from tears. Terry rubs her shoulders, and Morag sinks her head into his chest.

Padma turns away.
