A/N: Takes place right after Bella says goodbye to Jacob, except they go to Edward's house instead of Bella's. You'll see why. My first shot at (dun dun dun dun...) third person narrarating! And I know this is my like, 10th one-shot, but oh well.

He was dreading this moment. He knew it would break her in half. And he would do everything in his power to fix her.
Edward could feel how upset she was. For his heart and Bella's were the same; they way hers broke because of Jacob, he couldn't help but feel identical pain. After he brought her home, she sat on her bed and sobbed nonstop. It was drowning him to watch her. He couldn't bear it. He felt like it was his fault.
It was about three in the morning when she finally quieted down. They lay on Edward's bed, tangled in each other, not saying a word. He understood the healing process. He didn't want to bother her. He would do anything for her to be happy.
"Go to sleep, Bella," he said softly. It wasn't a demand. Not even a request... just an option.
She shifted in his arms, tilting her head up toward him. She was burning inside. She needed to get her mind off of Jacob. And if there was one person who could do that, it was Edward.
"I wish... I could... help," he said in a strangled voice. With a sigh, he continued. "I am so, so sorry Bella. I'm sorry you had to say goodbye to your best friend. I'm sorry"
But Bella put a finger to his lips and leaned in to kiss him. He had the power of a king, he was a vampire, he was indestructable; but with Bella, at that moment, he felt weaker than the most delicate flower, able to be crushed by the wind. He was overpowered by her.
It was a long, passionate kiss, and soon Bella was overwhelmed with desire. Of course she knew what she wanted, and she knew they had a compromise made, but she couldn't resist trying.
He didn't bother trying to stop her when she took off his shirt.
