Kimaru knocked at the apartment door gently, the memory of the encounter still fresh in her mind. Rein had told her to kill the most precious thing in her life, and she knew she must obey. The twinkle of low lamplight poured out into the hall as Nagiru opened the door. There was surprise in his eyes.
"Kimaru, what are you doing here so late?"
She stepped forward and threw her arms around his neck, kissing the hollow of his throat gently. She was quickly putting her lethal plan into action.
"Oh, Nagiru, I've been thinking about it for weeks, and I finally know that you are the one. My need for you is greater than my need for air, for water, for my very life!"
She advanced further into the room, pushing him back until he fell onto the bed and she fell with him. She meant everything she was saying and it saddened her to be confessing under false pretenses. Her determination to her purpose made her eyes hard. They kissed passionately as Kimaru pulled off Nagiru's shirt and then her own. Nagiru let his fingertips stroke Kimaru's spine, sending quivers through her body. He then moved on top of her, taking control but being oh-so-gentle. Kimaru knew he would stop if he even slightly thought she didn't want this.
Soon they were in the full throws of their passion, skin pressing to skin until they were one with each other. Kimaru knew she had to do it, and do it right then. As she clung to her mate, she drew the fangs out from her skull, gasping with the combined suffering and ecstasy she felt. She pressed her lips to his neck gently rolling to be on top of him, to have the advantage in a struggle.
Just as she was about to sink her fangs into his neck, he quietly whispered the three words she had wanted him to say more than anything.
"I love you..."
She knew then he couldn't go through with it. Even if she could make herself try, her body would refuse to take the life-force from her mate. She knew she wouldn't be able to try. She detached herself from Nagiru, and he made no move to stop her. Kimaru wept as she gathered her clothes hurriedly and jumped out the open window, landing nimbly on her feet three stories below. She threw on her shirt as she ran and wrapped her skirt around her, buttoning it up the side.
Nagiru moved to the window and watched her run from him. The cool wind bit his face as he shed our silent tears. The moon turned his skin pale blue as he leaned forward and set his elbows on the windowsill. He placed his chin in his hand and sighed quietly.
The gentle sound of a gun being cocked came with the sound of Genma's voice.
"What a sad thing Kimaru couldn't do this herself. Rein will not be pleased."
With that, she pulled the trigger to place a bullet into Nagiru's skull. Kimaru heard the gunshot from far away and sat down on the grimy street pavement. She wept until she could no longer see. Then, she took out a small knife and pressed the blade against her skin until crimson blood smeared her milky-white flesh. She vowed then that Rein would one day feel her vengeance. The vow of a vampire mercenary made in blood is no small thing.
