The Mother of the Hawk
Her picture is on the wall, in her wedding gown. She's standing up and the picture is to the side. A profile. Her head is toward the camera. So graceful and elegant. She is smiling. Not just any smile. A smile that is calm and very happy. She is holding flowers. Roses to be exact. They are alive and full of life as she. On her neck, a cross is hanging. It represents the savior. She is thankful on her wedding day. The picture is in black and white. For Daniel Pierce, he remembers it in color.
In the picture, he remembers her eyes. They are-or were as blue as the ocean. This is very rare for an Italian. Something happened when she was born, and she got blue eyes. She has light olive skin like any other Italian person. Her smile shows her teeth white as pearls that are most of the time hidden by her scarlet red lips. Her gown is as white as snow and has lace. The roses she holds are of red and white.
Daniel Pierce remembers her as a wife; a citizen of Crabapple Cove; a mother to his only son and child. Some call him 'Ben' or 'Benjamin' like his mother. For others, they call him 'Hawkeye' which Daniel has found suiting for him. His parents call him something different, but mean the same person.
As a joke, Daniel would call her "The Mother of the Hawk." Hawkeye would joke as well. His best friend, Tommy Gillis would always greet her as Mrs. "Mother of the Hawk." She would take it lightly and pay no mind. It spread quickly throughout the town. It would never go away. But one day, she does.
In the year of 1932 the woman known as Elizabeth Marie Pierce died. Cancer has taken her away. Daniel Pierce is always feeling guilt because he is a doctor, and could not save his wife. He prepared the funeral, and what to say on her stone. Hawkeye has a suggestion, and Daniel accepts it. On her stone it reads to this day:
In Loving Memory of
Elizabeth Marie Pierce
December 15, 1897-Feburary 25, 1932
Wife and Daughter
"Mother of the Hawk"
Whenever Daniel Pierce looks on the wall with the woman's picture on it, he is always reminded of his wife. He is always reminded of "The Mother of the Hawk".

A/N: Do not own Daniel or Hawk. Elizabeth is my creation. (At least her name.) No profit is made.
