A/N: Okay, so this story is actually going to be divided into two segments with two OCs in Radiant Garden. This story is for my character Anyaa and the next story, Radiant Future, will be for my character, Khrystal. Terrible summary, I know, but I hope you enjoy :)
Chapter One: The Business
It was another bright, warm morning in Radiant Garden, the flowers opening their petals to the morning light, the people of the city rousing to head out for work, and Anyaa... well, Anyaa was trading away their secrets.
Anyaa was a flower girl as far as most people were aware. Even Khrystal, her business partner of many years, was unaware of Anyaa's work as a spy. It had taken diligence and lots of town gossip before Anyaa was able to accrue enough secrets to start her business, but finally she was able to work at a steady pace that kept her finanally secure all year round.
"Well, good morning, fair flower. Any goods for sale today?" A scratchy male voice called out from behind her.
She knew that voice the instant she heard it.
"Good morning, Braig. I've got quite the flower if you've got the munny." Braig was her number one buyer for secrets. Most people who requested her service were trying to ferret out secret affairs or just wanted to hear a little small town gossip, but Braig was a different case entirely. She supposed it was because he was a Royal Court Guard, but Braig was always looking for the darkest secrets, the strangest events, and news of any strangers seen in town.
"For you, always." He hands her a hundred munny, the regular price for secrets.
She extends to him a single flower, he reaches to take it, and just as their hands touch, they pause.
"Rumors abound of a strange old man with dark skin and golden eyes. Nobody knows what he's doing here but everyone agrees, there's something sinister about him." She had laid eyes on him briefly only yesterday and in that short span of time, a deep, dark chill had gripped her heart in a vise. There was definitely a darkness there to be reckoned with.
Their hands part and he tucks the flower into his pocket.
"Anything else I should know about?"
"Oh, yes..." She clears her throat. "There will be a new addition to the Royal Court Guard. My brother finished his training, though I've no idea when he'll be inducted into the Guard."
"Ahh, you must be elated. After all, you're the one who had to pay for all that training."
"A secret you'll be keeping to yourself or you'll lose your business with me."
"You mean he doesn't know? What did you tell him then? That training was free or something? As if!"
"Look, I just don't want him to know, okay? It's a matter of pride."
There was a tense silence before Braig sighs, conceding to her will.
"Alright, I give. I won't tell..." He picks up a lock of her brunette hair, twirling it around his finger, thinking carefully on what to say next. Aside from their business together, he genuinely liked the young woman. She was a cutthroat businesswoman, witty, honorable in her own weird way, wise beyond her years, and hotter than hell.
He had tried hooking up with her before and while she had been more than happy to oblige, their jobs kept them to busy to take their relationship to a more serious level.
"Hmm... The sun is rising high. You should go pick up Khrystal before she gets suspicions about your real agenda."
"Yeah, last thing I need is for Khryssie to figure out our flower business is a cover for my real work. Well..." She leans in close, putting her hands on his shoulders as he wraps his own around her waist, "I'll see you around."
And with that, she leans up and kisses him. She keeps it brief however as she parts and heads towards the castle.
Then it dawned on him...
"Hey! What's your brother's name? I'll keep an eye on him for you!"
He could faintly hear her giggle. "His name is Dilan, and trust me, he won't need your assistance. Bye, Braig!"
A/N: Good? Bad? Lemme know with a review :)
