No Regret
Akihito looked a last time around, checking if his apartment was really empty.
It was.
He went again through his mental 'To-Do-List'.
His bank account cancelled.
His cell phone was also cancelled.
Apartment resigned.
Its resignation hurt a little, at least it was his first real own home.
There weren't any furniture's more.
No more pictures.
His clothes given to the charity.
No, there weren't any Pokky's in the kitchen closet.
No ramen.
His improved darkroom was gone.
A sniff.
There wasn't any smell of the fixer any more.
The apartment was really empty and neat and tidy cleaned.
Yes, there was nothing of him here anymore.
Nothing reminds of him.
Slipping on his favorite – and just at the moment only – sneakers.
Shrugging on the sweater.
He throw the backpack with his beloved camera over his shoulder.
A very last glance through the apartment.
The empty apartment.
Neat and tidy cleaned.
Opening the door, leaving the apartment, turning around and he locked a last time the door.
He would throw the key in his former mailbox.
Akihito turned around and in front of him stood – Asami.
Slowly Akihito went to Asami, never taking his eyes from the older man.
"I'm done." He said softly.
Asami opened his arms and embraced him, inhaled deep Akihito's scent.
"Sure?"
"Yes."
Without hesitation Akihito looked him deep in the eyes and smiled.
"I hope you know what you did."
An amused grin appeared on Asami's face.
"I know what I did."
"Sure?"
"Yes."
With a soft laugh Akihito entwined his fingers with Asami's and together they went down the stairs to the waiting car.
As soon as Asami sat down inside the car he took Akihito onto his lap and pushed gentle Akihito's face up.
"You know that I will never let you go."
"Hmhm. Be aware, I'll never let you go, either. You are mine!"
"He, that's my phrase."
"Pft, now it's mine."
They playfully bantered, celebrating the joy of being together.
But suddenly Akihito was serious.
"Ryuuichi?"
"Yes?"
"Are you certain?"
"Yes!"
There was no hesitation in Asami's voice.
And the exchanged look was steady as a rock.
Satisfied with what he read in Asami's eyes Akihito snuggled himself as close as possible into Asami's embrace.
Entwining their lifes like moving into Asami's penthouse and taking on his name maybe wasn't his wisest decision but he knew one thing for sure: he wanted to stay at the side of this man for all eternity and felt no regret loving him.
