Please don't hate me
Summery: Sequel to 'Tell me the truth' which is the sequel to 'What is this?' Myra finally talks to her parents about her father's death.
I watched as mom cooked dinner and dad put away the dishes from the dishwasher. I was sitting on the stairs, watching through the banister bars, as if I were in jail.
I couldn't do this. It's was to hard…
But I had to.
I needed to hear it from them.
So, mustering up my courage, I stood, and walked into the kitchen.
"Hey hun." Dad greeted, kissing me on the fore head, as he walked to put the dishes away.
"Hey…" I greeted emotionlessly
"Hey babe." My mom greeted as she placed our dishes on the counter, I pulled up my stool and sat next to my plate.
"Um, guys…I need to talk about something. Please don't hate me when I tell you."
"You're pregnant." Said my father seriously; I could see he was holding back a laugh
"Mulder! Don't even joke!" mom cried with a giggle "What is it honey?"
"Well…um, about 3 months ago…I had to do this project-"
"You failed." Dad cut me off
"No."
"You didn't turn it in."
"No, I turned it in!"
"You're friends stole it and threw it in the toilet?"
I just looked at my father. "Would you just let me talk?"
"Ok, sorry go on." He said with a smile as he leaned onto the counter, my mother stood next to him, drying her hands on a towel.
"It was a family history project…"
"Did you talk about how cool I am?" dad joked
Mom punched him playfully and the two laughed
"Am I ever gonna get to my point?"
"Sorry, sorry, go on."
"And well…I found out some…stuff…at first I was afraid to talk to you about it, so about a month later I talked to grandpa about it…he told me it was true…" I wasn't really sure how to say this to them
"What did you find honey?" my mother asked me naturally concerned
"I-I-I…I found out…you died dad…" I said
Both of their faces went shocked, they look at eachother
"So it IS true! Why didn't you tell me?" I begged
"Well…it's just….it was so…hard then…we've just tried so hard to forget it…it just felt like…if you knew…I dunno…like it would all come back to haunt us again…" her mother whispered
"I-I'm sorry momma…it's just…I-" I was unable to make a sentence…
why had I wanted to know so badly? Why?
"It's ok baby." Said dad hugging me
"I was just so scared when I read your…obituary."
Dad laughed slightly "It's nice to know I'd be missed." He kissed me on the head, and looked at my mother and me. And he softly said "Come on, dinners ready."
And I knew, those words, even though they seemed to have small meaning…
They meant so much.
It was our reconciliation.
We were starting over.
It was going to be ok.
They didn't hate me.
THE END
