The Truths about being a Vampire

A/N: I do not own Moonlight. It is only one of my favorite shows. Thanks goes to Somer for helping me come up with some of these.

No I don't kill people just to drain them. I have a very strict policy about stuff like that. Now there are others who do not and I warn you to keep out of dark alley-ways after dark. Yes I can eat food. It just isn't very appetizing for me. Which reminds me, no I am not allergic to garlic. In fact it is one of the only foods that I enjoy eating. There is just something about the…strength of the flavor. I can cook though. It may have taken me a few hundred years in order to master the craft, but hey nobody is perfect.

Yes, I can have a relationship with a human. Although from past experience I can tell you they do not work out well. A vampire will find it difficult to tell the other person of what they actually are. Once they do tell the relationship will never be the same. Either out of fear from the human or envy. I hope to never make the same mistake again.

Now as many people know Twilight did give a few new ideas about what it is like to be a vampire. Every time I see someone reading the book or watching the movie I just can't help but to laugh. Vampires do not sparkle in any way; we can be hurt by wood, and it makes us sick to be in the sunlight. We do not possess any special gifts that we didn't have as humans. If a vampire says that they do, they are probably lying.

Another false trend about my kind is that we are indestructible; we can be killed by beheading. Fire does us no harm and we have a stricter code than to not allow humans to know of us. In fact a good deal of people knows of my kind…they simply write stories that we have told them; of course they alter a few things but what sells, sells.

There is also the question of whether we sleep or not. The answer is yes. We need sleep just as much as a person who has not died yet. Now you are probably wondering when and where we sleep. It's quiet simple during the day and on a bed. We also work for a living; at night of course. Most people call us insomniacs but I sleep quiet well. I guess someone who has a past that haunts them would find it difficult to sleep.
