He woke up in a cold sweat, breathing hard and sobbing slightly. Kurt Hummel had had recurring nightmares – although, since it was true, it was more like memories? – of Blaine saying Robin Thicke to that stupid GAP guy for the last 2 days. After the possibly hardest moment of his life, when he had finally told Blaine how he felt. Blaine had given the expected drivel about not wanting to 'screw up their friendship'. And Kurt had pretended to agree. And drank his coffee in silence.
Except, that was 2 days ago. And he hadn't heard from Blaine since then. He had hoped that look they shared during 'silly love songs' had meant something. But apparently, it didn't. He had spent the entire weekend with Mercedes and Rachel (who saw that friendship coming? ), without a single text from Blaine. Given their usual 10-texts-a-day routine, something was wrong.
"That was so incredibly stupid. I had to open my big mouth and ruin everything".
"Don't be silly Kurt" Mercedes told him. "I've been telling you for ages that you need to make a move."
"Well, what if he never talks to me again?" Kurt asked desperately.
"That's not going to happen, Kurt", Rachel assured him. "Wait till you see him before you jump to any conclusions".
Kurt heaved a deep sigh. He was going back to school tonight – he had starting boarding last month, to avoid all the travelling during weekdays. With a bad feeling in his gut, he hugged them both good-bye and went home to pack.
"Yes dad, I just got into the parking lot. I'm fine. Miss you already", Kurt told his still paranoid father, before snapping his phone shut. But he didn't move. He was slightly scared about going up to his room. There was a very high chance of meeting Blaine – they were roomies, after all. At first, Kurt had loved this. Now though, it would be awkward if Blaine would keep avoiding him. Well, you can't sleep out here. Get a move on!' he prepped himself. Grabbing his bag, he got out of the car, locked it and started to walk up the stairs.
To his surprise, he didn't meet anyone on the stairs or on the floor. This was usually the time the house was the noisiest, with all the boys coming back to school. Whatever. He stopped outside the door to his and Blaine's rooms, feeling nervous. Just get it over with, Kurt. He unlocked and opened the door.
WHAT….the hell? Am…am I in the wrong room? Hundreds of candles were lining the room. Romantic instrumental music was playing in the background. As his eyes adjusted to the semi-darkness, he looked around for Blaine. He spotted movement near the couch. As Blaine walked up to him, Kurt dropped his bag and closed the door behind him.
"Blaine…What's going on?" Kurt asked his roommate.
"Kurt. I'm sorry I couldn't do this right after..you know, that day. Spending 2 days without you but thinking of you constantly made me realize…"
"Realize what, Blaine?", Kurt asked him breathlessly, only thinking OH MY FRIGGIN GAWD IS THIS REALLY HAPPENING?
Blaine smiled at him. "that I love you Kurt".
For a second, Kurt could only stare. Then with a strangled cry, he fell into Blaine's arms. "I love you too…so so much" he said into Blaine's hair.
They pulled back, and looked at each other. Then, very carefully, Blaine leaned his face towards Kurt, and waited, as though waiting for permission. With far less patience, Kurt pulled Blaine's head towards his, and kissed him passionately.
His first, and perfect kiss.
