"Hermione, Hermione!" The boy cried out. "You're back!"
The professor smiled as she watched the pearly white mass of hair run towards her. She glanced up and caught the small smiles of affection on other teachers. "Hey there!" She greeted the boy. "Didn't I say I would be back?"
"Yeah, but when you didn't arrive with all the other students and professors, I thought maybe you'd forgotten. Where's Ron?" The boy asked, looking up. "I want to see him again!"
"Don't you remember?" Hermione bent down to look fully into the boy's face. "You'll see him over the summer. He's busy; training to be an auror. He promises to tell you all about it in his letters. Don't worry though, summer will be here before you know it," She stood up. "I have to go eat now. I'll see you later."
"'Kay. Goodbye!" The boy turned and wandered back to the Gryffindor table.
"He's just like his father. Such an attention seeker," The black robed, sallow-faced professor mumbled when she reached the head table. "It isn't possible for a Potter not to be a brat. I'm relieved I don't have to –"
"Severus, please," The cat eyed woman glared at him. "That's enough. You could at least try to get along," She looked up at Hermione. "It's so nice to see you again, Ms. Granger. You'll be one of the best Muggle Studies teachers we've had. I don't know what Albus was thinking, appointing Pure or Halfbloods who had never spent more than two months with Muggles."
Hermione blushed. "Thank you Professor. I look forward to teaching my students about Muggles."
"No need to call me professor, Ms. Granger. Now, if you'll excuse me –" She stood up, immediately gaining the attention of all the students.
"Welcome back, to those who are returning, and welcome to Hogwarts, First Years!" A large cheer interrupted her for a moment. "I would like to inform all students that the Forbidden Forest is just that, and you can find a list in Filch's office of many other forbidden objects.
"We have a new teacher this year for Muggle Studies, as the past one took some time off to learn more about Muggles. Please welcome Professor Granger kindly.
"I wish all of you a good night. Prefects, if you could bring your students to your house."
Hermione watched as all of the students left. She then shuddered as little transparent hands wrapped themselves around her waist.
"Good night Harry," She addressed the boy from before.
Death Of The Boy – Who – Lived
October 19th, 1992
Last night, tragedy struck at Hogwarts. The Gryffindor Second year boys were asleep in their beds when a candle fell over, igniting the bed sheets.
Prefect Percy Weasley noticed smoke coming out of the dorm and rushed for his Head of House, Professor McGonagall. "There was only one thing going through my head," He said when asked. "And that was to find someone who could help."
McGonagall arrived minutes later and quickly ran into the flaming dorm. She was able to get Neville Longbottom and Seamus Finnigan out easily. She then got Dean Thomas and Ronald Weasley. Sadly, Harry Potter, the Boy – Who – Lived, died in the flames.
Ronald Weasley is currently in St. Mungo's for third degree burns. Longbottom, Finnigan, and Thomas are staying in care of Madam Pomfrey for a few days.
Harry Potter's funeral will be held October 26th, from 11 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon. Afterwards, for those who knew him well, a dinner will be held in the Great Hall.
