Obi Wan stood up and stretched his legs. He glanced around the room, looking for Qui Gon.
"Not here again. Doesn't the guy ever eat!" Obi Wan muttered.
"What's wrong?" Garen asked.
"Nothing," Obi Wan said resentfully. "Only, whenever I can't find Qui Gon, he's always in the Jedi Council Room, excepting another mission without me. We're supposed to go together. It's not fair, I always get told last-oh, there's Qui Gon! I'll see you!" he waved to his friends as he dashed across the dining hall towards his master.
"Obi Wan, come. There's an urgent meeting called by the Council. We were asked to attend, among others. We've got to go now, though."
"Yes, Master," Obi Wan said obligingly, as he stuffed his last pastry in his mouth.
The two headed towards through the corridors until they reached the Council Room. Qui Gon pressed a button, and Yodas voice came through a little speaker. "Enter, you will."
They entered the Council Room. All twelve members were in their seats. In the center of the room stood Adi Galia and Siri. Obi Wan grinned. He was beginning to enjoy working with Siri. As much as he tried to deny it, he had to admit, she was a great Jedi.
She glanced at Obi Wan, and grinned a tiny smile. He was shocked. In the Council Room! He was about to hiss something at her, or shake his head, when he felt a tugging at his robes. It was Qui Gon, reminding him to bow. He did so.
"Good. We have one other team working on this mission, but they'll be undercover. Here's how this is going to work…"
A half hour later, an exhausted Obi Wan followed Qui Gon out the Council door. Qui Gon swept along silently beside him.
"So, my young apprentice. What is our mission? Briefly."
Obi Wan took a deep breath. "We are to go to a planet called Earth. There is a war there. A civil war. It's between two groups called the Southerns and the Northerns. The Southerns want to keep slaves, and the Northerns won't allow them. But they are all supposed to be united into something called a 'country', where different cities join together to form one huge city-like union, which they call a country. The Southerns are threatening to break away from this 'country'. Our job is to stop the war, and the slavery."
"Good, Padawan. And how do you think we should complete our mission?"
"Well, we should first go to this 'Earth', and see the situation. Then we can decide how best to complete our task."
"Good. Our transport leaves in one hour."
"Yes, Master."
Obi Wan turned to go. He was surprised when Qui Gon touched his arm, restraining him.
"Obi Wan, you must be careful. These 'Earth' beings can be violent, and this war is very bloody. That's why the Council is sending out three teams. Obi Wan, be cautious. This could be one of our most dangerous missions ever."
"I'm always cautious, Master."
"Good." Qui Gon said, a bit sadly.
