On January 1st, Emma and Killian's lives changed forever.
"Twins," whispered Emma
"No way. No way. Are you serious?!"
"I know, right."
Walking hand in hand through Storybrooke, Emma and Killian tried to figure out the best way to let everyone know their news. Tell people individually or get a fanfare? Maybe something in between. After all they had been through, deciding how to break their news felt like the most difficult decision in all of the realms.
"Are you hungry?" asked Emma.
"Aye, love. Granny's?"
"Yeah, let's go," said Emma, briefly pausing, before she had a revelation. "Wait, that's it! We can tell everyone there."
They needed a certain something to serve as inspiration. And what better place to find inspiration than at Granny's?
They began to approach Granny's little diner, often changing their minds about breaking their news there. Walking away. Going back again. They needed to do it so it was time to sink the hook in and get on with it.
After all, according to general consensus, Grannyland is the place to be, where everyone aims to be. Granted the townsfolk refrained from calling Granny's establishment Grannyland to her face. But that would be a story for another time.
Killian opened the door, leading the way into the diner, with Emma close behind. He stepped aside allowing his wife's growing bump to be displayed.
The people of Storybrooke hadn't been known as the kind to miss a beat. Which is why, upon arrival, there was the loudest, most glass-shattering shriek from Granny herself. Like a choir in perfect harmony, every occupant in the diner turned their head. One by one, facial expressions changed. Grinning, wide mouths, sobs. Okay, there weren't so many sobs, just Mary Margaret.
"Hey everyone. To put it simply - I'm pregnant, with twins, whoop."
There wasn't much time to take anything in or listen to what people had to say before Snow had her say."CHARMING, IT'S A BABY. IT'S TWO BABIES. I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!" Snow screeched, bursting at the seams with excitement. "One for each of us to love on."
"Wonderful," said Charming, who was equally excited, naturally, he just didn't have such a publicly soaring reaction. Unlike his wife and voice in song.
Emma was overjoyed by her parents reaction, even if they hadn't yet offered their congratulations. "Err, Mom, Dad, what about Killian and I?"
"We've gushed about you enough to last a lifetime, it's baby time," said Snow.
"What about Henry and Lucy?"
"What about them? Don't deprive us of our cheesiness. We get to be grandparents again!"
Emma and Killian looked at one another, confused by what was going on. "Err, okaaay.."
"Oh Emma, Killian, come here! I'm kidding," Snow said, trying to recover from a flatline in her humor, as she proceeded to pull her daughter and son-in-law in for a hug. "True love always wins."
"We're going to be super-cool grandparents," roared Charming. "Heck yeah! We'll be firing those arrows and doing a spot of sword-fighting here and there. The kids will have the art of a hero mastered by their first birthday!"
"Don't forget us all sitting down for cake at the end of those hard nights, my love," said Snow.
And all of this could only happen at Granny's. You could only dream to be a part of the local phenomenon that is Granny life. The people of Storybrooke had frequently made themselves known on social media as #granniesfannies
All but Ruby, that is, since she fled to Oz to escape dear Granny and her cooking - her loss. While it was something that was bound to happen, it did not matter too much. For the love Granny had garnered from the rest of Storybrooke was forever unmatched.
Why? Everybody loves her lasagne. Her world-class lasagne.
Alas, she may have lost Rumple, Belle, Henry, Regina and Zelena when they all departed for other worlds. But if there was one thing that had the power to bring them back..
It.
Was.
THE LASAGNE.
It would have been ideal for everyone to return to Storybrooke to celebrate the wonderful news that Emma and Killian had to share. Nothing better to do it with than a celebratory lasagne. Yes, for such an astounding thing to occur it is somewhat inevitable that it would also lead to-
FREE LASAGNE FOR ALL REGULARS.
Causing returns from far and wide; Storybrooke reunited. With the exception of Belle, who had sadly passed. Although resting very easily seeing as she has been able to taste the lasagne in all its glory. Differing from Neal, Graham and Robin who all got to taste it before they died. With this, they all had peace. This was the power of the lasagne.
We got a lotta love for you, Granny.
It's important to note that if Granny died she is sure to be honored accordingly. Lasagne Day. Not one person could cope with recreating a masterpiece to serve out, therefore a contest would be lovingly implemented.
I see you Snow with the extra cheese. You go, girl!
Whoa, Henry, what is that?
Zelena, why is it so green?
So here I say once more - If Granny ever died, what would her beloved Storybrooke do?
Honour her with Lasagne Day.
Oh and congratulations Emma and Killian on your twins. He he he.
